Making A Difference
Making a Difference
Danielle Thompkins
Family, friends, faculty, and staff, as we have gathered here today in honor of our eighth grade graduating class, take the time to ask yourself this question . . . “Have I made an impact on society or an individual’s life?” Being eighth graders, we often think that we cannot make a difference. We are so wrong. If we have a will, we can make an impact on our world. As we graduate today, we all need to realize that we have made a difference in someone’s life.
We all have goals that we want to achieve. Such goals may be becoming doctors, layers, or teachers. What ever career we may choose, we can always touch someone’s life.
Teachers are able to touch hundreds and thousands of lives, daily, through the classroom. Lawyers can affect society and people fort he better of for the worse. Each day, doctors strive to research for cures to the diseases that our world faces. Even if we don’t think we have, we have made and continue to make an impact on people’s lives.
When we were younger, we looked up to the eighth graders, just as the younger children today, look up to us. We wanted to be like them and have the same privileges. As the graduating eighth graders, we need to look around us and realize how many people we have looking up to us. Our actions and behaviors need to be those, by which, we would the younger generation of today to follow.
We all have our goals that we want to achieve. Our careers will bring failures and successes. Keep in mind that even though we sometimes fail, we will continue to make a difference. As we look around us today, think about how our lives have been impacted. Just like those people who influenced our lives, such as parents, grandparents and teachers, we will also be influence others. As we travel over to the high school, we hope to continue on our road to success. We will strive for the best remembering all that we have learned at HPEM. So now, we bid adieu to Hannah-Pamplico Elementary Middle and hello to Hannah-Pamplico High. We will make it! Let this be our motive and we can, and we will make a difference.
