Introduction

This passage is only in Luke. Full of prophesy, and compassion, the prediction of Jerusalem's fate, Just like we are doomed today. SIN DOOMS NATIONS AND ITS PEOPLE!

1) Jesus Love of the City

3 facts
Jesus Wept
To burst into tears
Sob
To Wail
Jesus was heart broken
He is heart broken today for the same reason.
“Beheld the city”
He was looking with an intense gaze
Seen the tragic state of the city
He did this while the city was in celebration, without a care in the world.
He tells us why He wept.
He did not weep because he was afraid to die.
But because they did not know peace
There are things which bring peace
2 things
Peace of the world
Peace of Christ
Which is peace of perfect assurance
(NKJV)
28 And we know that all things work together for good to those who love God, to those who are the called according to His purpose.
ii. Peace of intimacy
Divided into 3 parts:
PEACE WITH GOD
PEACE OF GOD
PEACE FROM GOD
But now it is all hid from their eyes!

2) The fate of the City

Jerusalem's destruction
Would have a trench dug around it.
Would be totally destroyed
The People personally judged.
Note YOU used 10 times
The people are who is at fault.
Today's world will suffer the same fate!
(NKJV)
36 He who believes in the Son has everlasting life; and he who does not believe the Son shall not see life, but the wrath of God abides on him.”

3) The Refusal of the City to Hear the Message.

The judgement comes because the people refused to accept the Christ.
They rejected their day of salvation.
The had the answers
From God Himself
God’s word
God’s messengers
God’s presence
But, they did not know Him
Or, they rejected Him
(NKJV)
34 “O Jerusalem, Jerusalem, the one who kills the prophets and stones those who are sent to her! How often I wanted to gather your children together, as a hen gathers her brood under her wings, but you were not willing!
35 See! Your house is left to you desolate; and assuredly, I say to you, you shall not see Me until the time comes when you say, ‘Blessed is He who comes in the name of the Lord!’ ”
