Worship on Purpose

We Rejoice with Praise (1-3)

I do believe that God takes pleasure in our praise. There is something in our singing and our shouting that moves God. The invitation to rejoice before God is an invitation to publicly demonstrate that what we say we do in private. So we are to literally, sound off in joy to the God who saved us, “The Rock of out salvation” The assumption in these opening verses is that you know who God is and what he has done for us. And, this rejoicing is not contingent upon how you feel or what your going through. (Elaborate on Community)

And if what God has done for us isn’t enough to get you happy, the Psalmist gives us another reason to rejoice, “For the Lord is the God, and the King about all the gods”.

We Reverence in Awe (4-7c)

Acknowledge Who?

What He has in His Hand? To the Hebrews the usage of “hand” was a symbol of power. When something is in your hand it’s also in your control.

Worship? Bow down, and bow down. The issue being communicated is that once you lower yourself then you will lower yourself. When in your soul you humble yourself then your body will follow.
