Introduction:

  • Jesus taught his disciples (and all of us) a crucial lesson about our spritial weakness apart from His presence and power in their lives. We have no power in ourselves to faithfully and courageously live and witness for Christ in this fallen world!
  • Lack courage to plant the Christian flag among your acquaintences?
  • Passed on an obvious evangelestic opportunity?
  • Have been afraid to share the gospel?
  • Is their family who need to know the gospel that you have neglected?
  • Proverbs 29:25 "fear of man"

Silence is golden but sometimes it is yellow! - anonymous

I. Jesus' Predcition (Mark 14:27-28)

  • Isaiah 53:10
  • He plans for the restoration after their failure
  • Perseverance/Preservation of the saints
  • Luke 22:31 - Peter lost courage & faithfulness, but he did not lose his faith.
  • MacArthur

II. The Disciples' Contradiction (Mark 14:29-31)

  • Arrogant ignorance - strength in his own flesh

III. Peter's Denials (Mark 14:66-72)

Personal Questions to Ponder:

  • Do the unbelievers in your life (your co-workers, neighbors, fellow students, relatives) know that you are a Christian? Have you ever shared your testimony or the plan of slavation with any of them?
  • Do you pray, prepare, and look for opportunies to share the gospel with unbelievers?
  • Are you equipped to clearly share the gospel and your testimony? If not, will you plan to take the SBCC Evangelism Class in the future?
