What we’ve heard from Tyler this evening was just absolute Truth - that’s who Jesus is.
I’m thankful for Tyler being willing to stand and speak God’s Word!
Tonight, before we make our way outside, I want us to look at a Truth about salvation.
So look with me at
John 5:1–9 KJV 1900
After this there was a feast of the Jews; and Jesus went up to Jerusalem. Now there is at Jerusalem by the sheep market a pool, which is called in the Hebrew tongue Bethesda, having five porches. In these lay a great multitude of impotent folk, of blind, halt, withered, waiting for the moving of the water. For an angel went down at a certain season into the pool, and troubled the water: whosoever then first after the troubling of the water stepped in was made whole of whatsoever disease he had. And a certain man was there, which had an infirmity thirty and eight years. When Jesus saw him lie, and knew that he had been now a long time in that case, he saith unto him, Wilt thou be made whole? The impotent man answered him, Sir, I have no man, when the water is troubled, to put me into the pool: but while I am coming, another steppeth down before me. Jesus saith unto him, Rise, take up thy bed, and walk. And immediately the man was made whole, and took up his bed, and walked: and on the same day was the sabbath.
John 5:1-16
It’s been long enough.
Jesus is about Grace.

1. The Pool

You Cnan;t
verse. 2 - “Bethesda” means “House of Grace.”
verse. 2 - “Bethesda” means “House of Grace.”
What does Grace mean?
Kindness to those who are undeserving.
Jesus saw a ton of sick people, and He showed up to show someone grace.
As Jesus walks up, John shows us a couple of details about the place they were and the people there:
The Pool
At certain times, and angel would go down and stir the water. the first person to step into the pool would be healed of whatever disease he had.
You’re in a place where something greater than an angel stirs. When Jesus begins to stir in hearts, you can know Him!
The People
Think about that detail… you just have to be the first one in!
They probably tried positioning themselves just right.
They probably tried staying awake just long enough, but notice the people that were there:
Impotent folk - powerless
blind - can’t see
halt - unable to walk correctly
withered - paralyzed
Notice the biggest detail: Waiting for the moving of the water.
You know what that speaks of? These people were without hope.
Are you without hope tonight?

2. The People

verse 3 -
Think about this detail.
You had to be the first person in the water!

If I was one of these people, I would have been leaning toward the water.

Notice:
Impotent Folk - powerless
blind - can’t see
halt - unable to walk correctly
withered - paralyzed.
Notice the biggest detail: waiting for the moving of the water.
This speaks of being hopeless… look at verse 6 - Jesus saw that he had been like that for a long time now.
Are you without hope tonight?

3. The Provision

Verse 6 - “will thou be made whole?”
Look at the progression of what happens?
“I don’t have a man to get me there.”
“I can’t get there on my own!”
In order to experience grace, we have to realize that we can’t get there on our own!
Do you remember when Jesus asked you if you wanted to be healed?
