34 Then Mary said to the angel, “How can this be, since I do not know a man?”
35 And the angel answered and said to her, “The Holy Spirit will come upon you, and the power of the Highest will overshadow you; therefore, also, that Holy One who is to be born will be called the Son of God.
36 Now indeed, Elizabeth your relative has also conceived a son in her old age; and this is now the sixth month for her who was called barren.
37 For with God nothing will be impossible.”
38 Then Mary said, “Behold the maidservant of the Lord! Let it be to me according to your word.” And the angel departed from her.
Earlier in the Christmas story and all throughout scripture we see that God uses those who are not qualified. In this part of the Christmas story we will see why.
When you read about Mary in the Christmas story she points out a reason why this just can’t happen with her. The angel though, points out that it isn’t her but by the power of God’s Spirit this will happen. The angel points out “…with God nothing will be impossible.”
Once Mary hears this she accepts her assignment.
Whatever God is calling you to do, you can’t do it. At least not on your own. God will give you what you need to know, need to say and the power to accomplish exactly what He is calling you to do.
What is God calling you to do? Hint: If you can accomplish it on your own, God is not calling you to do it.
Will you answer like Mary or will you say no?
