2 Samuel 5:17–21 KJV 1900
17 But when the Philistines heard that they had anointed David king over Israel, all the Philistines came up to seek David; and David heard of it, and went down to the hold. 18 The Philistines also came and spread themselves in the valley of Rephaim. 19 And David inquired of the Lord, saying, Shall I go up to the Philistines? wilt thou deliver them into mine hand? And the Lord said unto David, Go up: for I will doubtless deliver the Philistines into thine hand. 20 And David came to Baal-perazim, and David smote them there, and said, The Lord hath broken forth upon mine enemies before me, as the breach of waters. Therefore he called the name of that place Baal-perazim. 21 And there they left their images, and David and his men burned them.

(KJV 1900)
We use the word breakthrough to indicate when a sudden dramatic shift takes place…
You are fighting, pushing, struggling and in one moment -
BREAKTHROUGH!
In my heating and air days… one of the routine things we had to do was drill holes to foundations.
So you stand there for 20-30 minutes with a heavy hammer drill
and all of a sudden you breakthrough into open space - no
resistance!

Until Oct 14th, 1947, many aviators believed that man was not meant to fly faster than the speed of sound, theorizing that transonic drag rise would tear any aircraft apart.
Many pilots had come to the threshold but the pressure, the extreme shaking and buffeting the the pilot experienced caused them all to back down…
But Chuck Yeager pushed through that and when he broke through the sound barrier, it was into the smoothest flying he had ever experienced…
Breakthrough… this word has been on my mind since Wednesday.
As I began to study this word and pray over it I was taken to this
verse of scripture.
Along with and .
At first I could not understand the account in 2 Sam and 1 Chron. because I made the same mistake as most others in assuming that because the word Baal - assuming it was the Canaanite god Baal.
Baal = lord, ruler or master, owner, husband
Let’s try and understand this.
David was the new king of Israel
The Philistines new David well
He had fought with them and against them
And they new him as a formidable leader of men that
posed a serious threat to them.
So when David was make king of Israel they new they had to deal with this new threat.
So they bring ALL the Philistine armies against Israel.
David inquires and God releases him to fight and they meet in
Baal-perazim.
David said God was like a great flood that swept them away and so he calle the name of the place; Baal-perazim.
Baal = lord, owner
Perazim = breakthrough
David walked away from that valley that day and said, God is the Lord of the Breakthrough!
***************
The Lord of the Breakthrough is here!
Some of you have become content with what is your life…
Watch: for seven years David had been king of a divide nation…
Things were going pretty good for him.
But God was saying it time for all the fulfillment of my purpose!
This has been a good year for many of us…
It has been a good year for the church…
Many live w the idea that God’s blessings come in cycles…
We can receive our blessing quota!
I feel a breakthrough coming that defies all our ideas and preconceptions!
Sometimes the greatest enemy of God’s purpose are the ideas we get in out heads!
Burn those ideas!
