Jesus is the Master

That was great. Turn with me this morning over 2. Luke Chapter 2 and verse 12 for a moment and I just want to say hello to our Facebook. Are Facebook fans are Facebook people who are less than we just thank you for being there and we know that we have some folks under the weather and and in different places who are clicking on Facebook. So we're glad that you're here and we are thinking of you. I also for those of you who are in the room physically. Thanks for coming out this morning. It's a little dreary this morning kind of discourages people. But you know what God is still on the throne. Did y'all know that and so we are here to worship and the song service this morning got me in the mood to worship. How about you? All right. Look at verse 12 Luke 2 and verse 12. I want to bring a message to you this morning entitled. Jesus is the master. But just this one verse and then we'll look at another spot. It says and this shall be a sign unto you you shall find the Babe wrapped in swaddling clothes lying in a manger and now look with me to chapter 5 and verse 5 chapter 5 and verse 5

didn't have to travel far. Luke 5 in verse 5 says but Simon answered and said unto him master. We have told all night and caught nothing nevertheless at your word. I will let down the net and we'll pause there with the reading of God's word today go with me in prayer. Our Father We praise you this morning. We thank you. For your grace, and for your mercy, we thank you Father for sending your one and only begotten son to this old Earth. We thank you for sending him and Him dying in our place. We thank you that he is resurrected and that he's alive today Father. I thank you for a place. As someone said this morning is warm and we can study your word. We thank you for it. All. I just pray today that that I would decrease in Jesus Christ would increase that you would put the words in my mind and in my mouth that I might preach the truth of Heaven and the truth of this gospel the Gospel of Jesus Christ and father, we praise you and I pray that you would bless this message as it goes forth in Jesus name. Amen.

It's so easy. During the Christmas season to visualize the scene of The Babe in the manger. I seen that unmistakable like that little only Jesus there in that manger and and surrounded by sheep and we had it in our mind don't we and we have the animals in our mind. And he's sleeping. He's laying there peaceful on that bed of hay.

And our minds instantly go to the nativity scene because we grew up with it. We know exactly where this isn't exactly where Joseph is and there's a little little one in front of me.

We can even go further than that and we think about the darkness outside. We think about maybe the coolness of the night. And the bright star that Shone brightly to the lead the way for the wise men who came from a great distance and will remember Christmas after Christmas how the children gather and do the program at church. We don't mind if they mess up every now and then cuz that's the fun of it in it.

And then after all these things that hold online return back and read from God's word the actual account and we envisioned all these things. We begin to smell like hay You can smell the hay actually and you can smell the animals in your you put yourself really in that place where it where Jesus was born and then our mind we can hear silent night. Holy night. You can hear the words because that's the way we've played it over and over in our mind. And it's all right. It's all right, if we do that, but we tend to forget folks that laying there in that Manger.

Lion Air is the king of all the ages laying there in that manger is the god of time and space laying there in that manger is the god that created the universe. He's the master of the universe.

And we forget just the fact that that God stepped out of Eternity and he came to this Earth as a as a baby. And it kind of bubbles are mind sometimes. And we're ready to ship or tell that it works slowly and undeserving, but they were still called to be the ones that were announced the message. And they were the ones that took and delivered it. to those around about Where is the Angels how they were amazed that the creator of all of universe took on the form of a little babe in swaddling clothes?

We rate of those wise man. Who traveled? You know, we have to kind of Rejoice because those wise men were really pagans. They were magicians. They didn't worship Our God they didn't worship like you and I do they look to other things, but when they came and brought gearson laid him down and worship Jesus. That's something. They Worship the Lord Jesus Christ.

Chapter 8 of the manger we reminded that Jesus put aside certain attributes certain things of his deity that he might become a man and live as a man and learn of the things that we humans know about and do. But then he went to the cross for all sinners. Any. There? For you and for me.

I don't need all these things and a lot of times it's more than our minds can hold when you think about it. When we start talking about the specifics.

And down below that it says. his master's voice Do you know that's a perfect picture of what we need to do at Christmas? We need to pause or just a few minutes. We need to slow down and Paul's were just a few minutes and listen carefully for the Master's Voice.

It's not easy in our land time is it? If you go into any mall or any store matter fact, if you go in some restaurants these days they want to crank that music up so high I can't tell if it's if it's medium or rare. Can you? They got that music.

But let's take the word master. Master has really fallen out of use. In our day and time. I don't know whether maybe it's something to do with America something to do with the era of slavery in America because of its use in slavery that almost a hundred and sixty years ago ended but Master is the Biblical word that we need to use even when we talked about Christ child.

And Jesus asked us in his word to call him master. over and John 13 + 13 John 13 + 13 He says ye call me master and Lord and he say well or so I am. So he asked us there call me master just in the gospels the word Master occur some 67 times now that's in the King James version and master was one of Peter's favorite titles or favorite words to call Jesus. go ahead since we read it there a few moments ago and Luke 5 + 5 when they were fishing in fishing hunting gone, so well and painter. It says Simon there but Peter said Meister, we have told all night. He called him master.

And what a strong storm was rocking the boat. Again, they called out to Jesus. They said master master we perish. And many other times they would use the term or the title master. on the Mount of transfiguration Peter again said unto Jesus Master it is good for us to be here.

That what does this word Master suggest? What does it tell us?

It calls on us to think about it calls on us to think about the attitude. Of how we Revere him of how we present ourselves to him, but will our soul should be towards the Lord Jesus Christ.

as his servant as we bow down to him as we give him praise and glory. supposed to fall this morning

We should show love we should show love for 43 years. One minute after midnight on Christmas Eve a man named Burke Hollow Way of of Cambridge England. He hands his wife. A little letter his wife Ethel says, thank you, honey. And that guilt is a tradition that he started when they were first married 43 years ago. And we're just all the way she says that she Treasures all of those love letters that he gives her on Christmas Eve and she's saved every one of them. Know that got me to thinking how about during the Christmas season? But we find a new way to not only express our love to our spouse. But to express our love to the Lord. Is there a new way to do that? How can we express our undying love to the master?

Christmas is a time when when we should express our love to God. Yes, I know. There's a lot going on at this time of year. You got to see family. You got to see your church family. You got to see this you got to do that. But Christmas is a time when we should really Express his love because he expressed his love with a gift of his son for us.

What are some who liked the idea that God loves us, but they refuse to hear the whole story.

Refuse to hear the truth about rebellion in about seeing about their need for a savior all they love all the Christmas things. They love all the decorations. They love the tree and all the little ornaments but these lost folks. They know the story of the baby. In Bethlehem, but they refused to listen why I came. They refused to listen why Jesus did what he did. Refuse to know who the baby really was. Or death to the words like like judgment and accountability and repentance. People today just don't realize they lost.

No, hope salvation on their own terms and they want it on their own time schedule. Did you know there are people who know what the gospel is? Ugly there people who knows and what the gospel is what it takes to have salvation. They even know and talked about it enough to bring someone to the Lord but they themselves have never have never asked the Lord to save them.

some of these people know that information enough so well. That they may have even lead people to the Lord. but they never allowed him to enter into their hard hearts. The friends we love him, don't we? I said we love him don't we because he first loved us and we were amazed and I'm amazed when we visualize his love and we see his love working. the Lovett that caused him to step out of heaven in to come to this old Earth.

You know it overwhelms me sometimes too. to see what people go through and Anything quote this is just the end of this is just going to fall down. This is going to stop happening but then God works and you can see him working and you can see others come and follow through. In this world of chaos. In this world of chaos, you can still see God working. Did you know that and in this world of chaos? I'm glad today that not only he's my Lord and Savior but he's my master. He's my master secondly this morning. We should show him our adoration. Sometimes when were overwhelmed with the love and and seeing these things around about us, sometimes it's just unexplainable in and we can't even describe to other people. About how he's working or the things that you have seen him doing. Sometimes it gets to the point to where all you can say is.

I praise you are Master maybe even not with your full voice. Just maybe whisper it under your breath.

And already he's admired. By Christians and by us we say we praise you in and we bless you bless you father. We worship you. We we glorify you.

Sometimes it's okay. Just not say anything.

And give him that adoration. you know, we're staying all of that when we just quest for the word master

early this morning. He must have our Allegiance. Jesus told a parable. TV religious leaders about a shrewd money manager who cheated his master out of a lot of money in order to find favor with wealthy people and at the end of the parable Jesus utters these famous word from Matthew 6 + 24

Matthew 6 and 24 and he says no man can serve two masters. Or either he will hate the one and love the other or else he will hold to the one and despise the other ye cannot serve God and Mammon and that word Mammon their means money. This is same reason that Jesus says it's difficult for a rich man. To go into the kingdom of God or for a rich man to be saved, you know, the more you have something. The more you want more of it.

more Moeller What do you find yourself wishing more of? more money or more of God Do you want more of God? Do you find yourself striving and doing everything possible for just a little more money a little more this a little more land, baby.

If you're looking for more money or more stuff than friend. God is not your master.

The truth would probably be that money is your master or wealth is your master, or maybe it's something else. Maybe you're looking for more more more. things is it possible to have great wealth and Still serve God as Master. Yes it is. I've known some pretty wealthy Christians in the past. The difference is what you regard as as treasurer.

Is your treasure your wealth? How do you trade your life Abundant Life life eternal? So the true expression of the word Master is the very oldest of Allegiance.

We cannot wait we must not and we we do not sow to Masters and even further than that. We don't serve three Masters or four Masters or five. We only have one master. We should live to serve only him. And we should live to serve the Lord Jesus Christ his hit your master today fourthly today every Christian. Should walk in confidence? Now this is not a self-help meeting today. This is not a boost up your self meeting today. But every Christian should walk incompetent. We don't get this pop. It's from Marcel.

Play burn the bridges from behind us that we not I don't know about you, but I'm not going back to where I used to be.

And I'm sure that Christ is the captain of my salvation. So whatever he has for me is in front of me. It's not behind me. We've entered into his service forever. He tells us to count the cost. Does he not? I've counted the cost. I'm his I'm his servant. forever

we're giving our Allegiance completely to him because we confide in him. Holy have you done that? Have you given him your whole heart?

So we know that we have believed. And we can call him Master. It doesn't stop there.

There's one other.

Also, there must be obedience. You know without obedience.

What would what would the Christian look like without obedience?

quit be running around like a chicken with her head cut off when we without obedience. Everything would be a mockery.

and by his grace we shall say. Master and the pages are the days of our lives. We should get up in the morning and live a life that we're his servant. Because he is our master and that's the test. Each and every day is a test. That's where the fruit is in the outward expression of love. But how sweet to know that as we as we pledge our obedience as we say Lord I'm going to do as you ask of me as you command of me. He and Abel's us he gives us that power to obey by his grace and by the spirit that lives in us, he gives us that power Jesus Christ is the master and what we need to get it on minded Christmas is that he's the master that was in the manger. He is that Master.

And he demands and he deserves and he shall have what we've talked about today is love adoration Allegiance confidence. and obedience now this holiday season and every day of the year we live this life. Let us be dedicated. Let us be dedicated to him until he calls us home. There's no turning back. What's the song say? No turning back? No turning back. As I read earlier from Matthew their Jesus warned about serving two masters.

Maybe you could say today. Maybe you could come to the point today and say Lord take my life. Consecrate me Lord to thee in other words separate me use me as a separated servant for your good for your work. I know I had a regular job Lord, but in that regular job. Use me. I know Mama. A housewife where I know that I'm a worker here a worker there but in that use me as your servant.

Set me a part for your service Lord. It's Christmas time and we need to remember that the reason that were even here this morning. The reason that we're here is because over two thousand years ago a little baby came and was born in a manger. And he was no ordinary, baby.

And our savior, he's worthy of our worship and as Christ, he's worthy of our dependence upon him and his Lord. He's worthy of our obedience as Master. He is worthy of our servanthood and he's worthy of all that we can give to him.

Are you going to give Jesus your all this Christmas?

Have you put your hands in a life of Jesus?

Every head is bowed and every eyes closed this morning young person, Mom and Dad grandparent if you've never given your heart and life. The Jesus if you've never invited Jesus to be your master.

I want invite you in the next few moments to get out of your few and come down front and just say Pastor. I need to receive Jesus Christ as my Lord and Savior. Maybe you've never done that and you say why Brother David must I come forward. Well when Jesus was here on Earth, he asked his disciples to come and follow him. He always ask them publicly. They always ask them in front of people. Jesus said if you confess me before men, I'll confess you before my father who is in heaven. And is you coming confessed? You may be a witness for someone else who needs to do the same thing. That's why we do that because we do it publicly because he asked us to

some of you may need to come in. Pray for other people that God has put on your heart this morning. Yard-Man put someone on your mind today.

Whatever God is saying to you this morning. Let's be obedient to him. Let's pray father we come this morning. This is your message Father. I just ask that you would bless it bother now. This is your alter time.

You're in charge.

I just pray that. The hearts that are here would be opened that the Holy Spirit would work in those hearts today. Every way Lord in Jesus name. Amen. We're going to stand and sing brother. Jordan is going to lead us and song.
