The God Who Heals
The God Who Heals
13 Is any among you afflicted? let him pray. Is any merry? let him sing psalms.
14 Is any sick among you? let him call for the elders of the church; and let them pray over him, anointing him with oil in the name of the Lord:
15 And the prayer of faith shall save the sick, and the Lord shall raise him up; and if he have committed sins, they shall be forgiven him.
16 Confess your faults one to another, and pray one for another, that ye may be healed. The effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much.
15 And the prayer of faith shall save the sick, and the Lord shall raise him up; and if he have committed sins, they shall be forgiven him.
Something happens when faith arise.
Faith is not a natural life force
Man is born with the ability to connect on a natural level
Five senses
++See
++Hear
++Taste
++Touch
++Smell
Man was not born with Faith
8 For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God:
9 Not of works, lest any man should boast.
Faith
++The gift of God
++The connecting point to God
++Makes unseen hope reality
++Opens our spiritual eyes
9 But as it is written, Eye hath not seen, nor ear heard, neither have entered into the heart of man, the things which God hath prepared for them that love him.
10 But God hath revealed them unto us by his Spirit: for the Spirit searcheth all things, yea, the deep things of God.
Let Faith Arise
When faith arises
++Truth is revealed
The foundation of faith is truth. without truth there can be no faith
17 So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.
2 This only would I learn of you, Received ye the Spirit by the works of the law, or by the hearing of faith?
3 Are ye so foolish? having begun in the Spirit, are ye now made perfect by the flesh?
3 Through faith we understand that the worlds were framed by the word of God, so that things which are seen were not made of things which do appear.
When faith arises
Truth is revealed
++Trust is awakened
10 For therefore we both labour and suffer reproach, because we trust in the living God, who is the Saviour of all men, specially of those that believe.
2 For unto us was the gospel preached, as well as unto them: but the word preached did not profit them, not being mixed with faith in them that heard it.
They did not believe…They did not profit
When faith arises
Truth is revealed
Trust is awakened
++Things begin to change
4 And my speech and my preaching was not with enticing words of man’s wisdom, but in demonstration of the Spirit and of power:
5 That your faith should not stand in the wisdom of men, but in the power of God.
I am the God who heals
26 And said, If thou wilt diligently hearken to the voice of the Lord thy God, and wilt do that which is right in his sight, and wilt give ear to his commandments, and keep all his statutes, I will put none of these diseases upon thee, which I have brought upon the Egyptians: for I am the Lord that healeth thee.

Healing is the connection of God’s will and faith.
Let Faith Arise
6 But without faith it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him.
The text addresses three groups of people
++The Afflicted
++The Merry
++The Sick
They are all seen as issues that lead to a response.
The response of the afflicted
The response of the afflicted
13 Is any among you afflicted? let him pray. Is any merry? let him sing psalms.
To be afflicted is to
++Suffer misfortune
++Pain _(Imposed by others)_
44 But I say unto you, Love your enemies, bless them that curse you, do good to them that hate you, and pray for them which despitefully use you, and persecute you;
Healing begins with a change of attitude
Healing begins with a change of attitude
When you are hurt by people
++Love them
++Bless them
++Do good to them
++Pray for them
Take it to the Lord in Prayer
The response of the merry
The response of the merry
13 Is any among you afflicted? let him pray. Is any merry? let him sing psalms.
To be merry
++Cheerful
++Happy
33 These things I have spoken unto you, that in me ye might have peace. In the world ye shall have tribulation: but be of good cheer; I have overcome the world.
We only look for peace… in a time of trouble
trouble is promised
But,
in the midst of the trouble
in the middle of the test
in the middle of the tribulation
Be of Good cheer
It is time to sing
It is time to sing
27 Let them shout for joy, and be glad, that favour my righteous cause: Yea, let them say continually, Let the Lord be magnified, Which hath pleasure in the prosperity of his servant.
2 I will say of the Lord, He is my refuge and my fortress: My God; in him will I trust.
2 Let the redeemed of the Lord say so, Whom he hath redeemed from the hand of the enemy;
The response of the Sick
The response of the Sick
14 Is any sick among you? let him call for the elders of the church; and let them pray over him, anointing him with oil in the name of the Lord:
To be sick weakness
++Physical
++Spiritual
++Emotional
41 Watch and pray, that ye enter not into temptation: the spirit indeed is willing, but the flesh is weak.
17 When Jesus heard it, he saith unto them, They that are whole have no need of the physician, but they that are sick: I came not to call the righteous, but sinners to repentance.
There is not greater weakness than sin.
++not sinful behavior
++the sinful nature
8 But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.
3 For what the law could not do, in that it was weak through the flesh, God sending his own Son in the likeness of sinful flesh, and for sin, condemned sin in the flesh:
The law could not fix the weakness
The law could not fix the weakness
The Law was a response
++To what was seen
++To what was heard
++To what was touched
++To what was tasted
++To what was smelled
Healing required a different kind of response.
Healing required a different kind of response.
The response of faith
11 Through faith also Sara herself received strength to conceive seed, and was delivered of a child when she was past age, because she judged him faithful who had promised.
Her weakness was turned to strength
Through faith She that was barren
++Received strength
++to conceive
What did she conceive?
She conceived _Seed_
11 Now the parable is this: The seed is the word of God.
23 But he that received seed into the good ground is he that heareth the word, and understandeth it; which also beareth fruit, and bringeth forth, some an hundredfold, some sixty, some thirty.
11 Through faith also Sara herself received strength to conceive seed, and was delivered of a child when she was past age, because she judged him faithful who had promised.
Let faith arise
++Let us pray
++Let us sing
++Let Faith Arise
15 And the prayer of faith shall save the sick, and the Lord shall raise him up; and if he have committed sins, they shall be forgiven him.
