Change Your Perspective

I have been reading back through Joshua a lot lately and i feel like God has brought me to Joshua chapter 6 and has just kinda left me there! its a story that i know well but i have always just kinda read it and then moved on but i feel like he left me here to really look into it and study it!

To understand what im going to say im going to have to give some context of whats going on here!

The book of Joshua follows a man named Joshua who has taken the mantle of leadership of the Israelite’s after Moses passed away! Joshua is the Guy that is going to be leading them into the Promised Land which is called Canaan. So Joshua leads these Israelite’s out of the wilderness and across the Jordan River (during harvest season) and leads them all the way up to this strong hold called Jericho!

so i have been studying for a while and this is what i believe that the Lord has laid on my heart.

The thing that i always over looked about Jericho is why it was so important! The reason that Jericho was so important was because because of its location!

see Jericho’s location was placed so strategically because it had direct access into Canaan ( the promised land ) so anyone who wanted to get into Canaan would have to capture Jericho first!

That’s just what the enemy wants to do! see you each have a calling, you have land that the Lord is calling you to occupy, and the funny thing is that the enemy cant take that away from you! but what he can do is strategically place Jericho’s in your life to stop you from ever reaching it! So really the only thing that can stop you from stepping into your calling is you!

Lately i believe so much that we need to change our perspective on things in our lives, change the way we view them and think about them. i believe that we ruin so many things for ourselves because of the way that we view things, we rob ourselves of so much Joy because of our outlook on a situation

(talk about school) i guarantee that most of you woke up this morning and got somewhat upset because you knew that you had to come to school today, and now you already have a predisposed idea of what the day is going to look like and what im going to tell you is that

the things that you think whether they are good or bad have the power to change how your day goes.

so the story goes on and before Isreal is at Jericho God says to them that he has already given Jericho to you

and i started thinking to myself, how much of a shift happened in their mind? they still had to go up against Jericho but they got conformation that they already had victory over that fight!

if you have accepted the free gift that God gave you then you are his Child, You are a Child Of The King, that gives you full capabilities to walk into any situation in your life with victory because the battle has already been won! there is nothing that can steal your Joy anymore, sin and death no longer have a foothold in your life, so if that's the truth then why do so many of us sit there and do nothing, why do we walk around defeated and sad and upset as tho there is no hope?

If you could just rearrange your thoughts and believe that you are a son and daughter of the king and that you now have the ability to have joy in all situations and you are able to walk around with the confidence as if you knew the end of the game and that you came out the winner, do you realize how much of a difference that would make in your life? do you understand how much more God would be able to use you if you just made that slight change. what a difference and impact you would make.

Im about to land the plane right here

maybe your here today and you feel like you’re at this super low point in your life, you don't know what to do or where to go and you don't know what to turn to.

then i want you to listen to this, you cant miss it! isreal at this point is in the bible is standing arguably at their lowest point! They have been wandering in the wilderness for 40 years and now they are standing in front of the thing that is between them and the Promised Land! and i think that this is funny because Jericho is literally the lowest piece of land that is on earth! and so just like Isreal back then you have a choice to make! You can either sit there and not do anything and waste your life or you can trust that God has already gone before you and has already given you this land and all you have to is trust that you are a child of God and believe that you already have victory over whatever battle you are going through right now!
