I - One of the my biggest temptations as a parent is to “keep the Peace”

Foster will whine, ask for things he shouldn’t have, and do things he shouldn’t do.
My biggest temptation is to placate, give in, or distract.
Or to do it myself
when the right thing to do is parent.
to keep the peace by any means necessary rather than teaching the lesson
To drop my expectations aquese give in rather than taking the teachable moment.
“Talk about a time Foster SUPRISED me by something he could do”
The temptation to keep some kind of temporary “peace” at any cost.

Trans:We place a really high value on peace and we long for it and we are willing to pay a pretty high price for it, even if what we achieve is not quite really peace.
We long for it and pay high prices for it, often without thinking
We long for peace...
At home. So we keep our mouths shut when they hurt us or hut themselves, because the conflict is not worth it. To keep the peace.
With Family. We give each other the cold shoulder, send subliminal messages, and gossip about family members when they believe the wrong thing, or do the wrong thing. We avoid each other to keep a delecate peace.
With friends
We let our relationships die on the vine rather than addressing the way someone hurt us. We hold grudges instead of asking for forgiveness and finding ways to move on. We refuse apologies
At Church
At school
At work
What does true peace look like? Is it even possible to have ? or are we condemned to “peace”

G

Trans: Leading up the first Christmas People longed for peace too. All of human history
The main way people did this is just like today, mostly power, money, and violence
But the bible ran contrary to that, it talks about a different kind of peace - SHALOAM (describe it)
Isaiah prophesied - one day there would be a “prince of Shaloam”
In 1st century there was a “prince of Peace” already Augustus
In Mary’s song she describes what that kind of savior would look like to her
read it
setting right
more than a ceasing of conflict but a reworking and righting of the world.
its not enough to keep things in stasis, part of peace/salavation is THE self exalted brought low, and the low broght high
a reworking of the world.
Mary says/bible says no
NO - Pax Romanan is not real shaloam
Peace maker peaces is not piece
Ignoring the problem pease is not peace
Mary Believes Jesus will bring this kind of peace
Colossians
Jesus brings us peace with God and changes the enemy equasion
If you belive, you believe that you have been reconciled, and must be a reconciler. An agent of peace.
You dont get to have enemies anymore. We are called to follow Jesus in this, by pursuing true peace in our world by laying our lives down.
Guessing Game.
