Here in Isaiah chapter 7 the people of God are in some serious trouble and their future looks pretty bleak. However, right in the middle of their fear-filled season of life God delivers a message and a sign of hope. This is not a Christmas tree hope this is not an idea so they can escape from the real world this is declaration that a virgin will bear a son and call his name, Immanuel, which means “God with us.” The whole point of this text is about hope it is not a decorative distraction, nor is it something to just make us feel good nope it is the source of hope Jesus is the source of hope and joy for hurting people not just in Isaiah's day but in our day.
