GOD HAS GOT YOUR BACK IN THE DESSERT.
REVELATION 12:1-6 ‘a great sign appeared in heaven: a woman clothed with the sun, with the moon under her feet and a crown of twelve stars on her head. 2 She was pregnant and cried out in pain as she was about to give birth.
3 Then another sign appeared in heaven: an enormous red dragon with seven heads and ten horns and seven crowns on its heads. 4 Its tail swept a third of the stars out of the sky and flung them to the earth. The dragon stood in front of the woman who was about to give birth, so that it might devour her child the moment he was born. 5 She gave birth to a son, a male child, who “will rule all the nations with an iron scepter.”[a] And her child was snatched up to God and to his throne. 6 The woman fled into the wilderness to a place prepared for her by God, where she might be taken care of for 1,260 days.*’
I want to talk to you about something in this verse that I think is important to helping you understand what this year has been, what you went through and maybe why you went through it. And if you worked through well enough, then you will be able to understand the promise that lies in your life and be well prepared to receiving it, so you will not miss your moment or stay too long in a season that was only meant to be a small part towards the fulfilment of your purpose which In it is the will of God upon your life.
So, the text tells us that something important happened in the sky. Note, it is a very important occurrence if the bible calls it so.
It was a woman, she was clothed in the sun- what does this mean, that even when she goes into cold places, and God has already equipped her with the warmth she needs to be sustained in the cold season.
With the moon under her feet. So when she walks in the night she shall not wonder and walk out of her purpose, for she shall clearly see her path in the night.
She had a crown of twelve starts on her head, she was royalty. She has royalty within here. She is a beautiful woman. She is a vision to behold.
She was pregnant. She is carrying the seed of salvation inside of her. Inside her own belly she is carrying life. She is carrying a promise inside her, she has hope, and she is carrying encouragement, inspiration. She has gifts inside of her. She has a future inside her. She is carrying a very important seed inside her.
She is crying out in pain, and she is in labour. She is about to give birth. It is one thing to be pregnant, it is another to be in labour, and it is a completely different thing when you are in pain. Pregnancy that one is about to give birth is uncomfortable, women complain about being bloated, they cannot stay for long without peeing, they are tired, their breath is laboured, they can’t sleep well, their feet are swollen, they are tired, they just want the baby out of them as soon as possible. Now combine that with being in pain, the contractions are no jokes. The amount of pain that a woman goes through during labour is incomparable.
So I want you to become aware of her circumstances, to see or imagine what she is going through. Where she stands at this particular point.
Fast forward in the text, she is not at home, she is not at the hospital she is at the wilderness, it is a dry place, it is scary, it is lonely is bad. And not only that, here is a dragon in front of her, it is ugly, it is scary, it is waiting on eating her baby, her promise, her seed, its waiting to destroy whatever she builds after that long struggle, it is waiting to frustrate her efforts of fighting loneliness, the pain, the conditions of the dessert, the emptiness of the place she is currently at. It is not a pretty place, but she has gathered all her strength and with grace, she is willing to push her baby out in the midst of what possibly is the worst places ever for a woman like that. So she is scared, she is worried that her idea may not work, she is worried about her young child, her family, about her payer. She is worried about whatever seed that she carries.
Nonetheless, she bares a baby boy. ’Who will rule all the nations with an iron scepter’ she has birthed a leader, she bore a male child, a protector, a saviour, a warrior, a brave man, she gave birth to a father of generations, a ruler. One worthy to sit at the throne.
Immediately she gave birth, God snatched the child away to his thrown. Because God already had a plan for the baby, he already had it figured out for the fruit of this woman, what does this mean, write that book already, start that business, help those people, speak to them... Release your idea, God has a plan for it. You will not have to struggle a bit trying to identify what it for. So do not question if it is good enough, just do it! Do what you are called to do and leave the rest to god, h will finish it, work with the gifts you have in you, and the lord shall expand you. Speak if you are a speaker, write if you area write, teach if you are a teacher, dance, encourage, preach, sell, invent... getting into the birthing position and release what you have been carrying inside of you. Push… and God will pull. He will establish what you have started, he shall multiply what you sowed.
Notice that God did not snatch away the woman in the wilderness, together with her child, because he could have. But he did not, he left her in the wilderness, and led her to a place he had prepared for her to recover. What does this tell you, you may have gone through pain and a lot of things in the wilderness, but who knows, and your recovery is still at the wilderness. It does not always mean that you will walk from hell straight to heaven, because God is not done with you yet. He will restore you in the place that hurt you the most, he will build you up in the middle of what broke you down. He shall heel you in what ailed you, and in the process, he shall have you face the dragons in your life, while you are weak, the dragon will be a few feet from you and ye he cannot touch you, because God is making hell nervous, and he Is assuring you that he has got you in the face of your works adversary that his grace abides by you at your weakest point. Even when you feel that you have lost the most valuable things to you, know that he is God and has you covered. As well as your fruits, your possessions.
He shall sometimes take away your successes to humble you enough to know that you have room for growth. And to know that he has got your back, it’s not your efforts, but his mercies and love.
He will strengthen you and build your character. He will pull if you push.
So get into that birthing position, and let out all that you have inside of you with a scream, and leave it all out to God. Because he has got your back in the dessert.
