True Story_pt3: He Has Risen
Many call the birth of Christ the greatest story ever told.
But, truly, the greatest story ever told after His crucifixion: He has risen!
This WAS the faith.
This was THE tenant of faith.
This was the battle cry, and the statement that sent 1000’s to death (persecution).
He has risen IS the “Good News.”
This IS the “Gospel.”
To understand this message more clearly, lets go back to the first time this message was spoken.
Christ had been crucified and placed in a tomb.
Since the chief priests feared the Disciples might stage a resurrection, they had Pilate order the tomb to be sealed and guards posted.
On the day after the Sabbath, Mary Magdalene and the other Mary went out to look at the tomb.
An earthquake, an angel – white as lightning.
Guards tremble and pass out…
He has risen!
[EVERYONE SAY] = HE HAS RISEN!
This isn’t just a message for Easter.
This is the foundation of our faith!
Today, we can get wrapped up in the tradition of the Christian faith and forget the true message – Christ is risen.
[TODAY] - The truth we will examine in Scripture is what sets us apart as followers of Christ...
Jesus told some "I never knew you...”
There are those that may revere Christ, but don’t do the will of the Father...
**Submission requires revelation**
And even in Paul’s day, many strayed from this message:
[PAYOFF] - How deep is your revelation of Christ?
,
,
This is why it’s so important that we grasp the truth that Christ has risen – “all will be made alive!.”
In fact, there are 3 truth statements I want to give you this morning, concerning Christ risen…
1. We’ve been raised with Christ!
It’s important to understand that Christ is risen, because we have risen with Him!
We’re seated with Him!... What does that mean to us?
Paul, just a few verses before, prays that the church would understand receive this revelation:
[READ] - I keep asking that the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the glorious Father, may give you the Spirit of wisdom and revelation, so that you may know him better.
18 I pray that the eyes of your heart may be enlightened in order that you may know the hope to which he has called you, the riches of his glorious inheritance in his holy people, 19 and his incomparably great power for us who believe.
That power is the same as the mighty strength 20 he exerted when he raised Christ from the dead and seated him at his right hand in the heavenly realms, 21 far above all rule and authority, power and dominion, and every name that is invoked, not only in the present age but also in the one to come.
22 And God placed all things under his feet and appointed him to be head over everything for the church, 23 which is his body, the fullness of him who fills everything in every way. 2 As for you, you were dead in your transgressions and sins, 2 in which you used to live when you followed the ways of this world and of the ruler of the kingdom of the air, the spirit who is now at work in those who are disobedient.
3 All of us also lived among them at one time, gratifying the cravings of our flesh m and following its desires and thoughts.
Like the rest, we were by nature deserving of wrath.
4 But because of his great love for us, God, who is rich in mercy, 5 made us alive with Christ even when we were dead in transgressions—it is by grace you have been saved.
6 And God raised us up with Christ and seated us with him in the heavenly realms in Christ Jesus,
I keep asking that the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the glorious Father, may give you the Spirit of wisdom and revelation, so that you may know him better.
18 I pray that the eyes of your heart may be enlightened in order that you may know the hope to which he has called you, the riches of his glorious inheritance in his holy people, 19 and his incomparably great power for us who believe.

22 And God placed all things under his feet and appointed him to be head over everything for the church, 23 which is his body, the fullness of him who fills everything in every way.
Made Alive in Christ
2 As for you, you were dead in your transgressions and sins, 2 in which you used to live when you followed the ways of this world and of the ruler of the kingdom of the air, the spirit who is now at work in those who are disobedient.
3 All of us also lived among them at one time, gratifying the cravings of our flesh m and following its desires and thoughts.

6 And God raised us up with Christ and seated us with him in the heavenly realms in Christ Jesus,
The New International Version.
(2011).

Grand Rapids, MI: Zondervan.
[PAYOFF] - We are partakers in Christ’s power and authority!
How?
Because We have been raised with Christ!!
---
The next truth...
Why were we raised with Christ?
Because God is building something, and we are now His building blocks, we are the Body of Christ!...
This is why it’s important that we obey His will....
This is His plan, His life… He’s doing the building!
This is where peace for your living comes = He’s in charge, and I’m simply submitted to Him.
2. We are His temple!
The third truth I want to share is a truth I pray will put an end to whatever, from your old life, is haunting you.
() “ Later, knowing that everything had now been finished, and so that Scripture would be fulfilled, Jesus said, “I am thirsty.”
29 A jar of wine vinegar was there, so they soaked a sponge in it, put the sponge on a stalk of the hyssop plant, and lifted it to Jesus’ lips.
30 When he had received the drink, Jesus said, “It is finished.”
With that, he bowed his head and gave up his spirit.”
() “And when Jesus had cried out again in a loud voice, he gave up his spirit.
51 At that moment the curtain of the temple was torn in two from top to bottom.”
[Until now, only the high priest could enter behind the curtain, and only on the day of atonement, and only when sprinkled with the blood of a lamb.]
() “Therefore, brothers and sisters, since we have confidence to enter the Most Holy Place by the blood of Jesus, 20 by a new and living way opened for us through the curtain, that is, his body, 21 and since we have a great priest over the house of God, 22 let us draw near to God with a sincere heart and with the full assurance that faith brings…”
[CHURCH], the third truth this morning – and Jesus said it - …
3. It is finished!
It’s done!
The price has been paid!
No longer do you have to live with what has been chasing you down!
Sin, guilt, regret, fear…
[PAYOFF] - We can enter into His presence, because it is finished!
