“Birthing a God Thing” Pt 2

(NIV)
26In the sixth month of Elizabeth’s pregnancy, God sent the angel Gabriel to Nazareth, a town in Galilee,
27to a virgin pledged to be married to a man named Joseph, a descendant of David. The virgin’s name was Mary.
28The angel went to her and said, “Greetings, you who are highly favored! The Lord is with you.”
29Mary was greatly troubled at his words and wondered what kind of greeting this might be.
30But the angel said to her, “Do not be afraid, Mary; you have found favor with God.
31You will conceive and give birth to a son, and you are to call him Jesus.
32He will be great and will be called the Son of the Most High. The Lord God will give him the throne of his father David,
33and he will reign over Jacob’s descendants forever; his kingdom will never end.”
34“How will this be,” Mary asked the angel, “since I am a virgin?”
35The angel answered, “The Holy Spirit will come on you, and the power of the Most High will overshadow you. So the holy one to be born will be called the Son of God.
36Even Elizabeth your relative is going to have a child in her old age, and she who was said to be unable to conceive is in her sixth month.
37For no word from God will ever fail.”
38“I am the Lord’s servant,” Mary answered. “May your word to me be fulfilled.” Then the angel left her.

The main idea is that God plants, seeds, infuses into us His will, and if we allow His will to be birthed out of us, the produce, the results, or the baby, so to speak, will give him glory. Every so often God impregnates us with something that needs to come out to the world, to your community, to the church, and family.
PP- Vs. 31“You will conceive and give birth...”
Some will conceive and give birth to a degree
Some will conceive and give birth to a business
Some will conceive and give birth to a healthier body
Some will conceive and give birth to a new you! A make over in attitude! Friend circle!
Some will conceive and give birth to a ministry
Some will conceive and give birth to a revolutionary app for cell phones
Some will conceive and give birth to a youth mission
Some will conceive and create a peaceful home.
Mary was impregnated by the holy Spirit to bring forth the Messiah. The Messiah was Son of God who through his blood would redeem us from sin and bring us into right relationship with the Father.
But birthing the Messiah wasn’t easy! She had to endue the stigma of getting pregnant before she was married to her fiancee Joseph. What would her parents say? Friends? She had to deal with the stress of possibly being divorced from him, back then it took a formal divorce to dissolve a betrothal (be-trol-thul). There was a law that said, he could have her executed as an adulteress!
It was down right embarrassing and stressful. Not to mention the normal physical and emotional challenges you go through with a normal birth. But she persevered until she gave birth to the Messiah, a God thing!
We're looking at Mary’s disposition and discovering some keys to giving birth to a God thing.
But she persevered until she gave birth to the Messiah, a God thing! We're going to look at some keys to Birthing a God Thing!
We’ve already learned that;
going to look at some keys to Birthing a God Thing!
Your location is God’s demarcation (Lk 1:29-34)
2. Agitation is a part of the equation ()
Illustration: an oyster from time to time gets foreign objects trapped in its shell. The foreign object (sand or other floating debris) agitates the oyster. The oyster secrets a substance called (ney-ker). To cover the agitation. We stated on last week that when we are agitated on our journey to birthing a thing, we cover the agitation in prayer. Prayer makes the agitation less irritating!
Let’s look at 2 more keys to to giving birth to a God thing that the Holy Spirit placed on my heart to share with you:
3. Acceptation: means to embrace something as true or valid.
3. Acceptation: means to embrace something as true or valid. Her first response was agitation, troubled. Getting new news that conflicts with your agenda is troubling. So the second response is to ask questions.“Mom, I broke the platter that was passed down to you from great-grandma.”Your response is probably , amoung other things, “What happened?”PP- (NIV84) 34 “How will this be,” Mary asked the angel, “since I am a virgin?” 35 The angel answered, “The Holy Spirit will come upon you, and the power of the Most High will overshadow you. So the holy one to be born will be called the Son of God. Her question in verse 34 was not an evidence of unbelief.
Likewise you will give birth to things that God has destined you to produce!

There is a middle that you will have to contend with if you will move from conception to giving birth!
(NIV)
i gave you some pointers from Mary’s experience.
34“How will this be,” Mary asked the angel, “since I am a virgin?”
Let’s Read and look at it verse by verse and glean some golden nuggets for life.
35The angel answered, “The Holy Spirit will come on you, and the power of the Most High will overshadow you. So the holy one to be born will be called the Son of God.

Mary did not seem surprised that the Messiah was to come.
It’s like when the family decides to have a holiday meal. And then everyone votes that it’s at your house! You knew there was going to be a meal, you didn’t know you would have to host it!
Her questioning wasn’t rebuked by the angel. Remember when Zechariah recieved a similar message from the same angel that he and Elizabeth would have a son in their old age. The angel rebuked him and caused him to not be able to speak! Until the child, John the baptist was born.
But the angel did not rebuke Mary. The angel obliged her.
Like her You can believe in something, know how it works and yet not accept it! PP- A line from the Matrix Reloaded 2003 comes into play here. Cornel West played the role of an elder in the city of Zion. “Your comprehension is not a requisite of cooperation!”Mary understood that some facts were present, the Holy Spirit will do this. But she didn’t have all the particulars. But she took a step and embraced the idea, that something of God was happening to her, that wouldn’t necessarily make her life comfortable in the immediate future. She she sensed that the ramification of going through the process would achieve a greater good!Everything on the planet, every human since the beginning of time has been selected to Birth something that God has planned to bring about a glorious end! It’s bigger than you! All of our trials and troubles are working together to bring about something magnanimus! Paul explains in that everything is working together! Yes and this includes you!PP- (NIV) 18 I consider that our present sufferings are not worth comparing with the glory that will be revealed in us. 19 For the creation waits in eager expectation for the children of God to be revealed. 20 For the creation was subjected to frustration, not by its own choice, but by the will of the one who subjected it, in hope 21 that the creation itself will be liberated from its bondage to decay and brought into the freedom and glory of the children of God. Let’s participate in some critical explanation here. It’s called “exegesis” a fancy term for the critical interpretation of text. The New American Commentary: . Living in the Spirit (8:1–39)8:20–21 Paul spoke of the creation being “subjected to frustration” (v. 20). That was not because of some inherent fault in creation but because that is what God decided. In punishment for his disobedience, Adam was to garner his food from ground cursed with thorns and thistles. But the curse was not permanent. The physical universe was frustrated by Adam’s sin, yet there is hope. Verse 21 states the content of that hope. The day is coming when the created order will be set free from its bondage to decay. Freed from corruption, it will share in “the freedom of the glory of the children of God” (literal translation). The scene is eschatological. There is coming an end to all of this (disease, cancer, high blood pressure, wars, hatred, murder, suicide). The entire created universe celebrating together the glorious state of final redemption and restoration22 We know that the whole creation has been groaning as in the pains of childbirth right up to the present time. 23 Not only so, but we ourselves, who have the firstfruits of the Spirit, groan inwardly as we wait eagerly for our adoption to sonship, the redemption of our bodies. 24 For in this hope we were saved. But hope that is seen is no hope at all. Who hopes for what they already have? 25 But if we hope for what we do not yet have, we wait for it patiently. 26 In the same way, the Spirit helps us in our weakness. We do not know what we ought to pray for, but the Spirit himself intercedes for us through wordless groans. 27 And he who searches our hearts knows the mind of the Spirit, because the Spirit intercedes for God’s people in accordance with the will of God. 28 And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose. In every life a little rain will fall. Everyone has to walk out this thing called life. God uses what we have to experience, regards of whether or not we want to, to birth something out of us!Everything on the planet is working towards the fulfillment of complete redemption of mankind. Each one of us is playing a role in the bringing about of God’s will as a whole. What each one of us is experiencing, is working together for the good of everything!Since we’re going to have to go through tough times and deal with inner weaknesses, i might as well use those vices, and interruptions to our nice lives as tools for growth and development, and for the betterment of our sphere.PP- When God is birthing something out of you, you must accept it and submit.Mary accepted her birthing assignment!Mary affirmed her part in her son’s subsequent birth by assenting to the plan of God. She willing submitted to God’s plan. The earth and humans needed a messiah, someone had to be the one to give birth to Him!She said... (NIV) PP- 38“I am the Lord’s servant,” Mary answered. “May your word to me be fulfilled.” Then the angel left her. PP-Calling herself the Lord’s servant or doulē, “ a female slave” ()If I accept something, I submit to it! Before Mary could give birth to a God thing, before she could qualify to birth a wonder out of her belly, she had to accept and submit to the plan of God! Even though it would hurt. She referred to herself as a female slave in the lyrics of a praise song she wrote:PP- (NIV) 46 And Mary said: “My soul glorifies the Lord 47 and my spirit rejoices in God my Savior, 48 for he has been mindful of the humble state of his servant. From now on all generations will call me blessed, It was essential that she be submissive to the Holy Spirit and not her own desires!Remember, no one could have aborted God’s will except for the person to whom it is assigned to! Only the person who has been given the assignment can abort the assignment! So it was crucial that she embrace it, accept it, welcome it, take it, submit to it, Not only did her have to believe the promise, but she had to accept the promise.
