“Birthing a God Thing” Pt 2

(NIV)
26 In the sixth month of Elizabeth’s pregnancy, God sent the angel Gabriel to Nazareth, a town in Galilee,
27 to a virgin pledged to be married to a man named Joseph, a descendant of David. The virgin’s name was Mary.
28 The angel went to her and said, “Greetings, you who are highly favored! The Lord is with you.”
29 Mary was greatly troubled at his words and wondered what kind of greeting this might be.
30 But the angel said to her, “Do not be afraid, Mary; you have found favor with God.
31 You will conceive and give birth to a son, and you are to call him Jesus.
32 He will be great and will be called the Son of the Most High. The Lord God will give him the throne of his father David,
33 and he will reign over Jacob’s descendants forever; his kingdom will never end.”
34 “How will this be,” Mary asked the angel, “since I am a virgin?”
35 The angel answered, “The Holy Spirit will come on you, and the power of the Most High will overshadow you. So the holy one to be born will be called the Son of God.
36 Even Elizabeth your relative is going to have a child in her old age, and she who was said to be unable to conceive is in her sixth month.
37 For no word from God will ever fail.”
38 “I am the Lord’s servant,” Mary answered. “May your word to me be fulfilled.” Then the angel left her.
PP- Two weeks ago I began a series entitled, “Birthing a God Thing”.
The main thrust of the teaching is God plants, seeds, infuses into us His will, and if we allow His will to be birthed out of us, the produce, the results, or the baby, so to speak, will give him glory.
Every so often God impregnates us with something that needs to come out to the world, to your community, to the church, and family. But we must participate.
PP- Vs. 31“You will conceive and give birth...”
Some will conceive and give birth to a degree. Some will conceive and give birth to a business. Some will conceive and give birth to a healthier body. Some will conceive and give birth to a new you! A make over in attitude! Friend circle! Some will conceive and give birth to a ministry. Some will conceive and give birth to a revolutionary app for cell phones. Some will conceive and give birth to a youth mission. Some will conceive and create a peaceful home.

Mary was impregnated by the holy Spirit to bring forth the Messiah. The Messiah was the Son of God who through his blood would redeem us from sin and bring us into right relationship with the Father.
But birthing the Messiah wasn’t easy! She had to endue the social stigma of getting pregnant, as a teen, right before before she was to marry her fiancee Joseph.
What would her parents say? Friends? She had to deal with the stress of possibly being divorced from him, back then it took a formal divorce to dissolve a betrothal (be-trol-thul). There was a law that said, he could have her executed as an adulteress! It was down right embarrassing and stressful. Not to mention the normal physical and emotional challenges you go through with a normal birth.
But she persevered until she gave birth to the Messiah, a God thing! We're looking at Mary’s disposition we can also learn how to “Birth a God thing!’
We’ve already learned some keys to Birthing a God Thing:
1. Your location is God’s demarcation ()
2. Agitation is a part of the equation ()
3. Acceptation- to embrace what God is trying to bring through you.
PP- (NIV)
3. Acceptation: means to embrace something as true or valid. After being agitated, she asked, (NIV) 34“How will this be,” Mary asked the angel, “since I am a virgin?” 35The angel answered, “The Holy Spirit will come on you, and the power of the Most High will overshadow you. So the holy one to be born will be called the Son of God. Mary did not seem surprised that the Messiah was to come. It’s like when the family decides to have a holiday meal. And then everyone votes that it’s at your house! You knew there was going to be a meal, you didn’t know you would have to host it!Her questioning wasn’t rebuked by the angel. Remember when Zechariah recieved a similar message from the same angel that he and Elizabeth would have a son in their old age. The angel rebuked him and caused him to not be able to speak! Until the child, John the baptist was born. But the angel did not rebuke Mary. The angel obliged her. This indicates that Mary did not doubt the angel’s words but merely wanted to know how such an event would be accomplished. But there are times when God will not give you all the particulars!
38“I am the Lord’s servant,” Mary answered. “May your word to me be fulfilled.” Then the angel left her.
PP- A line from the Matrix Reloaded 2003 comes into play here. Cornel West played the role of an elder in the city of Zion. “Your comprehension is not a requisite of cooperation!”You can believe in something, know how it works but you still have to accept it! you must embrace it!PP- (NIV) 38“I am the Lord’s servant,” Mary answered. “May your word to me be fulfilled.” Then the angel left her. PP-Calling herself the Lord’s servant or doulē, “ a female slave” ()She took it a step further, while she was pregnant she even wrote a praise song embracing what God was doing through her!PP- (NIV) 46 And Mary said: “My soul glorifies the Lord 47 and my spirit rejoices in God my Savior, 48 for he has been mindful of the humble state of his servant. From now on all generations will call me blessed, PP- When God is birthing something out of you, you must accept it and submit.Mary accepted her birthing assignment!Praising through tough times is proof of acceptance of God’s will in your life! But she didn’t have all the particulars. But she took a step and embraced the idea, that something of God was happening to her, that wouldn’t necessarily make her life comfortable in the immediate future. She she sensed that the ramification of going through the process would achieve a greater good! PP- Everything on the planet, every human since the beginning of time has been selected to Birth something that God has planned to bring about a glorious end! It’s bigger than you! All of our trials and troubles are working together to bring about something magnanimus! Paul explains in that everything is working together! Yes and this includes you!PP- (NIV) 18 I consider that our present sufferings are not worth comparing with the glory that will be revealed in us. 19 For the creation waits in eager expectation for the children of God to be revealed. 20 For the creation was subjected to frustration, not by its own choice, but by the will of the one who subjected it, in hope 21 that the creation itself will be liberated from its bondage to decay and brought into the freedom and glory of the children of God. Let’s participate in some critical explanation here. It’s called “exegesis” a fancy term for the critical interpretation of text.Paul spoke of the creation being “subjected to frustration” (v. 20). That was not because of some inherent fault in creation but because that is what God decided. In punishment for his disobedience, Adam was to garner his food from ground cursed with thorns and thistles. But the curse was not permanent. The physical universe was frustrated by Adam’s sin, yet there is hope. Verse 21 states the content of that hope. The day is coming when the created order will be set free from its bondage to decay. Freed from corruption, it will share in “the freedom of the glory of the children of God” (literal translation). The scene is eschatological. There is coming an end to all of this (disease, cancer, high blood pressure, wars, hatred, murder, suicide). The entire created universe celebrating together the glorious state of final redemption and restoration.22 We know that the whole creation has been groaning as in the pains of childbirth right up to the present time. 23 Not only so, but we ourselves, who have the firstfruits of the Spirit, groan inwardly as we wait eagerly for our adoption to sonship, the redemption of our bodies. 24 For in this hope we were saved. But hope that is seen is no hope at all. Who hopes for what they already have? 25 But if we hope for what we do not yet have, we wait for it patiently. 26 In the same way, the Spirit helps us in our weakness. We do not know what we ought to pray for, but the Spirit himself intercedes for us through wordless groans. 27 And he who searches our hearts knows the mind of the Spirit, because the Spirit intercedes for God’s people in accordance with the will of God. 28 And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose. God uses what we have to experience, regards of whether or not we want to, to birth something out of us! Everything on the planet is working towards the fulfillment of complete redemption of mankind. Each one of us is playing a role in the bringing about of God’s will as a whole. What each one of us is experiencing, is working together for the good of everything!Since we’re going to have to go through tough times and deal with inner weaknesses, i might as well use those interruptions as tools for growth and development, and for the glory of God!Mary affirmed her part in her son’s subsequent birth by assenting to the plan of God. She willingly submitted to God’s plan. The earth and humans needed a messiah, someone had to be the one to give birth to Him!She said... (NIV) It was essential that she be submissive to the Holy Spirit and not her own desires!Remember, no one can abort God’s will except for the person to whom it is assigned! Only the person who has been given the assignment can abort the assignment! So it was crucial that she embrace it, accept it, welcome it, take it, submit to it, Not only did her have to believe the promise, but she had to accept the promise. When you’re going through something, you can either quit, fret, or accept it! Part 3 Let’s look at another golden nugget for waiting with expectation 4. Articulation: You prophesy it! VS 38 Note-The act or giving utterance or expression. When a prophetic utterance is pronounced over you, your response matters. Acceptation, the embracing of it, and then the Articulation must follow. You must receive it and release it into your life. You can respond by saying, “I receive that” or “May it be to me as you have said” or “Be it unto me according to thy word”. Mary accepted the WORD and then articulated it! PP- God doesn’t force any blessing on you. But you have to participate with it!Power Point-Proverbs 18:21 (The Message) Words kill, words give life; they’re either poison or fruit—you choose. PP-Calling herself the Lord’s servant or doulē, “ a female slave” ()
The last point I’d like to make concerning “Giving Birth to a God Thing” is the idea of ...
So it is possible that Mary was telling the Angel, not only am I going to give birth to the messiah, but I’m going to go above and beyond giving special attention to my body mind and soul to make sure that this is a good pregnancy!

4. Articulation VS 38
The act of giving utterance or expression.
When a prophetic utterance is pronounced over you, when God is doing something through you, your articulation matters!
Articulation follows Acceptation.
Mary accepted the calling, assignment, and then she articulated it.

Subpoint: Notice where did Mary go? To see her pregnant cousin Elizabeth would was close to giving birth to John the Baptist who would be Jesus’ cousin.
What did they do? They certainly didn’t get together and talk about how miserable they were.

56 Mary stayed with Elizabeth for about three months and then returned home.
Mary stayed for three months with Elizabeth, til it was time for her to give birth. Why? Because it was prophesied that Before Jesus could come, Their had to be a forerunner, the one would get everyone’s attention in order to point them to Jesus!
Another nugget for “Birthing a God Thing”5. Unification builds harmonization Confirmation - Form “Holy Communions” Vs. 36-45 Marry ran to Elizabeth to tell her the news!

Background

Mary responded to Gabriel’s announcement with faith – yet God knew that there would probably come a million questions and doubts once she didn’t have an angel standing in front of her. Who, in all the world, could this young teenage girl go to? Who could understand? Who would believe her when she told them? What would she do? That’s when she thought, “Elizabeth! Of course!” Who in all the world could possibly accept Mary’s crazy story better than Elizabeth – who had a crazy story of her own. It’s hard, even among believers, to find somebody who really believes God is doing great things. Mary needed somebody who knew about miracles. How many times during her journey do you think Mary practiced how she would tell Elizabeth what had happened? Mary didn’t have to say a word. Elizabeth affirmed that what Mary had experienced was true! Elizabeth saw with the eyes of faith – and affirmed the work of God in Mary It’s interesting to me, that while John prepared the way for Jesus, in a real sense, Elizabeth prepared the way for Mary. Elizabeth had her own crazy and miraculous pregnancy, and so wasn’t at all skeptical of Mary’s In her years of barrenness, she had already experienced the disgrace and rejection of the community that Mary was likely to face when word got out. But Elizabeth had paved the way. All her life, God had prepared her, not only to be John’s mother, but to be the example of maturity and faithfulness that Mary needed for the enormous task ahead of her. Elizabeth extended love, acceptance, hospitality, hope and faith to a young girl in need of every bit she could offer.Mary went to Elizabeth in order to form a spiritually sophisticated union. Not a weird union, but a special spiritual relationship the bible expresses as being uniquely blessed. It is biblical to form relationships with people who struggle in their faith walk with the express purpose of helping them. But it is equally, if not more important to form spiritual unions with those are faithful to God, family, pastor, church, in giving, in prayer, and morally upright people. Mary and Joseph were living for God (He worked a job, they were engaged, they paid taxes, etc.) Elizabeth’s family was consistent, her husband was a part of the grouping of priest who ministered in the temple. She had to be in the right position with God for God to use her as the mother of the one of the greatest preachers that every walk the face of the earth, John the Baptist. In other words Brother Zach and Sis. Liz were good God fearing people. The Bible describes an activity that takes place in holy communions…-2019) I promise that when any two of you on earth agree about something you are praying for, my Father in heaven will do it for you.20) Whenever two or three of you come together in my name, “I am there with you.In the Christian jargon we call it “Touching and Agreeing” Vs. 39-45 This means to come together and decide what needs to occur, get on the same page for spiritual breakthrough.Relationships can either get you “Breakthrough” or “Breakdown”.This speaks to the import of spiritual communion, which affords your breakthrough, versus toxic unions, which guarantees breakdown.PP-When have I become involved in a toxic union? When a relationship brings out the worst of your personality. Your blood pressure will rise, you critique to criticize, you are negative, you have been convinced to have animosity and speak against things you used to love. Toxic people bring out the worst in you! They can be sneaky and quite stealthy because they come off as being concerned about you in order to defame something or someone that they don’t like that is attached to you.All of us have experienced this on some level. Have you ever had a good relationship with someone and overtime the other person grew cold to you and the relationship got unpleasant for no apparent reason. And when you started tracking what happened, you found out that the person you used to be in good standing with started hooking up with people who don’t care too much for you. And they became tainted by other people’s opinion of you. They really don’t care about you. They are using you to hurt the person they are at odds with. And creating tension between you and they other person they don’t like, they feel a sense of empowerment. This person will smile in your face, all the time they want to take your place… Backstabbers!PP-Question: “Pastor, how will I know when I have a “Holy Communion?” Answer: When it resembles Naomi & Ruth’s relationship. Naomi was a widow who had experienced the death of two sons. The result being she had two daughter-in-laws both of them who had affection for Naomi. Naomi knew that she needed to return to her homeland in order to make it financially. She began to explain to both daughter-in-laws of the troubles they would encounter and bade them if they cared for ease and comfort to return to their Moabitish friends. At first both of them declared that they would cast in their lot with the Lord's people; but upon still further consideration Orpah with much grief and a respectful kiss left her mother in law, and her people, and her God, and went back to her idolatrous friends. The scripture said, “Orpah kissed her mother in law; but Ruth clave unto her” KJVIt is one thing to love someone when all is fair, and quite another to cleave to them under all discouragements and difficulties. I don’t just need a kiss. A kiss is a gratuitous act that has no substance to it outside of tantalizing you for a moment! I need a cleave! A cleave is letting nothing separate you from that person’s love.A kiss is a tickle,a cleave is a hug. A kiss is a promise, a cleave is follow through. A kiss is notoriously inconsistent. A cleave is ever consistent. This person makes you pray more. This person calls you up and says, “Whew… that was another powerful sermon pastor preached!” This person will can feel your pain. This person is praying for you when you are asleep. This person guards your reputation. This person seeks to understand you. This person will tell you when you are getting off track! When you hook up with the right people, something in your belly will jump. Something in the inner part of you will rejoice. You will get re-energized by the Holy Ghost! This person will join you in praise!Praise will be in order! “Sing joyfully to the LORD, you righteous; it is fitting for the upright to praise him.” NIV This unification puts the enemy on notification!
