— That is, in Christ, God was reconciling the world to himself, not counting their trespasses against them, and he has committed the message of reconciliation to us. 20 Therefore, we are ambassadors for Christ, since God is making his appeal through us. We plead on Christ’s behalf: “Be reconciled to God.” 21 He made the one who did not know sin to be sin for us, so that in him we might become the righteousness of God.

Therefore- because of the reconciliation that we have through Jesus, which has been entrusted to us...
Ambassadors for Christ- representatives. Mission minded. Purpose driven. In a hierarchy. We have a boss. We have marching orders from an authority. We have some one to make proud or let down.
God.. through us- Our mission is with a point. It is not just to have a positive presence in the world. Rather, we are the chosen instruments. God has decided that this is the path. This is the way. He won’t send animals or angels or demons or writing in the sky. He is sending us and he is doing it on purpose.
An appeal- an invitation. A request. An exhortation. God’s invitation for salvation is given through us.
We Implore- we beg, we desire deeply, we want this.
Behalf- We are doing so in the name of Christ. This is what Christ wants. This is what his mind is about. This is his burden: Be reconciled to God.
21- How? How can this peace be possible? Jesus swapped places with us, took the payment we couldn’t pay and gave us the place we could never deserve. God doesn’t hold us accountable for what keeps us away form him- there is peace through Jesus.
Righteousness: his perfection, holiness, rest, peace, joy, light, goodness.
.
Ambassadors are always working. They are always on. They are always representing, even in their sleep.
Once reconciled, we are new but so is our purpose. We are a new creation with a new job.
What we are entrusted with is evangelism. He reconciled us AND gave us the ministry of reconciliation, in the same breath.
MS App: You are reconciled to God in Christ and he calls you to the ministry of reconciliation— You are his ambassador. Who are you not forgiving? Who are you angry with? Where is there not peace? ----- You are representing Christ and His mission every minute of everyday.
You have peace. You have a job.
HS App: You are reconciled to God in Christ and he calls you to the ministry of reconciliation— You are representing Christ and His mission every minute of everyday. How often is this your operating principle?
The ambassador is aware of the urgency, the high stakes, the great fall possible, the lives at stake, the reason for life.
.
Reconciliation when completed removes guilt, shame, fear, anxiety.
What drives you to hate yourself? What is the sand in the gears? The sharp note in the song? What about yourself makes you wince?
Selfishness? Lack of self-control? Thoughts that you wish would stop? feelings that overwhelm you? Darkness that creeps in?

Reconciliation: the removal of human enmity toward God
In this section Paul arrives to the heart of why he wrote them: To understand and receive the Gospel
The Gospel of Reconciliation: because of Jesus’ life, death and resurrection there is no condemnation or punishment for those who are in him.
Jesus was sinless:
He had no sin, he was perfect, nothing could be found wrong with him.
Jesus took our sin:
He took it away from us. He put it on him. He has it. We don’t. The whole world’s wrongness was rested on his shoulders to carry.
His righteousness can now be given to others. Because of him taking our sin, the door is open for us to now have something else: his righteousness.
The gift of righteousness is obtainable by faith. (, )

— That is, in Christ, God was reconciling the world to himself, not counting their trespasses against them,
The reason Jesus came was so that we could have peace with God.
He doesn’t count what we do wrong against us if we are in Christ.
and he has committed the message of reconciliation to us.
He takes away the wrong and gives us the right.
We have a job now.
20 Therefore, we are ambassadors for Christ, since God is making his appeal through us.
So, he takes our Sin and Selfishness, gives us Peace and a Purpose.
What does that look like? We represent him now.
***Ambassador***
What does he do with us? He works through us to show other people that peace.
We plead on Christ’s behalf: “Be reconciled to God.”
What do we do? We plead, implore, we want people to know God. We don’t want them to go to hell. We don’t want anger and guilt and shame and hurt. We want peace.
We want them to have peace with God.
***Testimony?***
21 He made the one who did not know sin to be sin for us, so that in him we might become the righteousness of God.
You are guilty but when you trust what the Bible tells us Jesus did you can be free of it.
The guilt is taken off and put on Jesus.
Now you have an relationship with God and nothing to mess it up
You have a Purpose
You have a Purpose
Before you were just alone. You wanted to get what you want. All your choices seemed to seperate you farther and farther from God.
When you become a member of the family of God, you also get a job. You get adopted into this perfect family, with a perfect name, and a perfect future in heaven. Now, you also have a perfect purpose: Ambassador.
You are now given the tools and the instructions to live a life that shows everyone how good God is. You are supposed to live out that peace.
You have peace and a purpose. Do you know that? Do you feel that? Do the people in your life feel that?
Challenge: write down the name of someone that you need to make peace with.
