1 Thessalonians 4:13–18 NIV
Brothers and sisters, we do not want you to be uninformed about those who sleep in death, so that you do not grieve like the rest of mankind, who have no hope. For we believe that Jesus died and rose again, and so we believe that God will bring with Jesus those who have fallen asleep in him. According to the Lord’s word, we tell you that we who are still alive, who are left until the coming of the Lord, will certainly not precede those who have fallen asleep. For the Lord himself will come down from heaven, with a loud command, with the voice of the archangel and with the trumpet call of God, and the dead in Christ will rise first. After that, we who are still alive and are left will be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air. And so we will be with the Lord forever. Therefore encourage one another with these words.
1 Thess 4:13-
Believers have a hope the transcends this world.
The hope is built upon a belief that Jesus died and rose again and that those who have fallen asleep will return with Jesus.
Fellow believers will also be with the Lord forever.

The Family told me that Mattie had marked in her Bible

Beginning with Matthew chapter 5 and in ending with chapter 7:29 Jesus is teaching on the reality of discipleship lived in the presence and power of the kingdom of God but within the everyday world.
Jesus teaches on the reality of discipleship lived in the presence and power of the kingdom of God but within the everyday world
Crossway Bibles. (2008). The ESV Study Bible (p. 1827). Wheaton, IL: Crossway Bibles.
This is important for us to understand how to apply . Simple put, those who believe and are saved are called by God to be His disciples. God’s disciples are to live according the Kingdom of Heaven Priorities while living this life.
A disciple shouldn’t worry.
Matthew 6:25–27 NIV
“Therefore I tell you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or drink; or about your body, what you will wear. Is not life more than food, and the body more than clothes? Look at the birds of the air; they do not sow or reap or store away in barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not much more valuable than they? Can any one of you by worrying add a single hour to your life?
But instead should seek first the Kingdom of God.
Matthew 6:
Matthew 6:31–34 NIV
So do not worry, saying, ‘What shall we eat?’ or ‘What shall we drink?’ or ‘What shall we wear?’ For the pagans run after all these things, and your heavenly Father knows that you need them. But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well. Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own.
Matthew 6:31-
Yet, we are to remember those God has placed in our lives.

Remember

Aidan Suri Mattie’s grandson has memories to share. When Aiden is finished the family invites others to share a short memory of Matties life.
Bruce shared this from
Work for a cause
Not for applause
Live life to express
not to impress
Don’t strive to make your presence noticed
Just make your absence felt.
In a few minutes we are going to listen to a song that was important to Mattie.
Matthew 6:1 NIV
“Be careful not to practice your righteousness in front of others to be seen by them. If you do, you will have no reward from your Father in heaven.
Matthew 6:1–3 NIV
“Be careful not to practice your righteousness in front of others to be seen by them. If you do, you will have no reward from your Father in heaven. “So when you give to the needy, do not announce it with trumpets, as the hypocrites do in the synagogues and on the streets, to be honored by others. Truly I tell you, they have received their reward in full. But when you give to the needy, do not let your left hand know what your right hand is doing,
Aidan Suri
Matthew 6:1
Don’t make a big deal when helping those in need
Don’t make a big deal when helping those in need
Don’t think about those around you when you pray, but pray as you are speaking to God alone.
Forgive as God has forgiven you.
Reflect
As we listen, this song was on one of the last posts Mattie put on facebook.
And when you have then play the song can you say that is was one of the last posts she posted herself on Facebook

Reflect on your life - Talk about Rewards

Talking about Rewards

Matthew 6:19 NIV
“Do not store up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moths and vermin destroy, and where thieves break in and steal.
Matthew 6:20 NIV
But store up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where moths and vermin do not destroy, and where thieves do not break in and steal.
Matthew 6:21 NIV
For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.

Reassurance

John 4:23–24 NIV
Yet a time is coming and has now come when the true worshipers will worship the Father in the Spirit and in truth, for they are the kind of worshipers the Father seeks. God is spirit, and his worshipers must worship in the Spirit and in truth.”
Romans 10:9–13 NIV
If you declare with your mouth, “Jesus is Lord,” and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. For it is with your heart that you believe and are justified, and it is with your mouth that you profess your faith and are saved. As Scripture says, “Anyone who believes in him will never be put to shame.” For there is no difference between Jew and Gentile—the same Lord is Lord of all and richly blesses all who call on him, for, “Everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.”
There are those here who have concluded that they have done things that disqualifies them from being saved.
Romans 3:23 NIV
for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God,
Psalm 32:1–2 NIV
Blessed is the one whose transgressions are forgiven, whose sins are covered. Blessed is the one whose sin the Lord does not count against them and in whose spirit is no deceit.
Psalm 32:1
Ephesians 2:8–9 NIV
For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith—and this is not from yourselves, it is the gift of God—not by works, so that no one can boast.
We often think of salvation as one action. However, God’s salvation has three levels.
The first level of salvation is when a person accepts their current condition is hopeless. Their sin is so grievous to God that He would never forgive them.
In this level, a person comes to realize that Jesus Christ lived a perfect life to be a sacrifice that is pleasing and acceptable to God. They also understand that God has accepted the sacrifice of Jesus to be a substitute for hopeless sinners like you and me.
In Jesus Christ God has provided a perfect sacrifice and substitute for anyone who declares that Jesus is Lord (Savior) and believes, trust, and rely that God raised Him from the dead. The Bible says “it is with your heart that you believe and are justified, and it is with your mouth that you profess your faith and are saved.”

The Committal

Ecclesiastes 3:1–9 NIV
There is a time for everything, and a season for every activity under the heavens: a time to be born and a time to die, a time to plant and a time to uproot, a time to kill and a time to heal, a time to tear down and a time to build, a time to weep and a time to laugh, a time to mourn and a time to dance, a time to scatter stones and a time to gather them, a time to embrace and a time to refrain from embracing, a time to search and a time to give up, a time to keep and a time to throw away, a time to tear and a time to mend, a time to be silent and a time to speak, a time to love and a time to hate, a time for war and a time for peace. What do workers gain from their toil?
John 12:23–26 NIV
Jesus replied, “The hour has come for the Son of Man to be glorified. Very truly I tell you, unless a kernel of wheat falls to the ground and dies, it remains only a single seed. But if it dies, it produces many seeds. Anyone who loves their life will lose it, while anyone who hates their life in this world will keep it for eternal life. Whoever serves me must follow me; and where I am, my servant also will be. My Father will honor the one who serves me.
1 Corinthians 2:9 NIV
However, as it is written: “What no eye has seen, what no ear has heard, and what no human mind has conceived”— the things God has prepared for those who love him—
Life, for the Christian, does not end in nothingness, not in obliteration, not in mere dust and ashes. Rather it ends in glory, the glory of the Creator's presence, the glory of a fuller life more joyous and blessed than our small minds can comprehend. As the Scripture affirms: "No eye has seen, nor ear heard, nor the human heart conceived, what God has prepared for those who love him" ().
