Exodus 3:7-
Exodus 3:7–8 NIV
7 The Lord said, “I have indeed seen the misery of my people in Egypt. I have heard them crying out because of their slave drivers, and I am concerned about their suffering. 8 So I have come down to rescue them from the hand of the Egyptians and to bring them up out of that land into a good and spacious land, a land flowing with milk and honey—the home of the Canaanites, Hittites, Amorites, Perizzites, Hivites and Jebusites.
Exodus 3:10
Exodus 3:10 ESV
10 Come, I will send you to Pharaoh that you may bring my people, the children of Israel, out of Egypt.”
How many of you think this is not a Christmas message?
In these verses we see nothing of salvation being mention and we see that God came down spoke to moses and tells him, that he(Moses) would be sent to speak to Pharoah. God saw and heard what they were going through, so He sent Moses to deliver the children of Israel from the hands of Pharoah.
He was to deliver the children of Israel from the hands of Pharoah.
Man can save and deliver man from man, but man can not save man from sin.
I thought I understood at first what God was trying to say when He first gave me this topic and scripture, but as I prepared the message I realize I could not see a Christmas message. I prayed and God revealed to me that Moses could deliver the people from the hands of Pharoah but he could not deliver himself or the people from their sins. That was why Christ had to be born.
Luke 1:77-79
Luke 1:77–79 ESV
77 to give knowledge of salvation to his people in the forgiveness of their sins, 78 because of the tender mercy of our God, whereby the sunrise shall visit us from on high 79 to give light to those who sit in darkness and in the shadow of death, to guide our feet into the way of peace.”
When John the baptist father opened his mouth he prophesied about his son. We really need to read the entire first chapter of Luke and find out the blessings we have because of the birth of Christ. These are a few.
Luke 1:36 NIV
36 Even Elizabeth your relative is going to have a child in her old age, and she who was said to be unable to conceive is in her sixth month.
Luke 1:36
Luke 1:36–37 ESV
36 And behold, your relative Elizabeth in her old age has also conceived a son, and this is the sixth month with her who was called barren. 37 For nothing will be impossible with God.”
Luke 2:10–11 ESV
10 And the angel said to them, “Fear not, for behold, I bring you good news of great joy that will be for all the people. 11 For unto you is born this day in the city of David a Savior, who is Christ the Lord.
Luke 2:14 ESV
14 “Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace among those with whom he is pleased!”
Luke 2:14
Luke 2:30 NIV
30 For my eyes have seen your salvation,
Luke 2:30
These are the words of Simeon who God had promised that he would not die until he saw the Lord’s Messiah.
Matthew 1:22–23 ESV
22 All this took place to fulfill what the Lord had spoken by the prophet: 23 “Behold, the virgin shall conceive and bear a son, and they shall call his name Immanuel” (which means, God with us).
Mathew 1:22-23
:22-23
Mathew 1:22-23
Conclusion: When God told Moses that he had come down, it was to empower Moses to deliver the children of Israel from the hands of pharoah, but when God came down in the form of Jesus Christ it was to overpower satan and set His people free from the power of sin and death.
