Christmas is all about light in the darkness and joy in despair. Just as God created physical light at the beginning of the world, causing it to burst forth in the darkness, so he causes the light of redemption to burst forth our hearts. As Jesus' tells us, he is Light of the world, so that we need not walk in darkness and sin. And with this light comes joy that drives out any despair. It keeps us going in sadness and never fails. It is the joy of God's harvest and the joy of his victory.
