1-4 – Jesus introduced and described as the Gentle Ruler

- This chapter starts with a proclamation, God the Father says “Behold, my servant.” This is the greatest proclamation in all of history. This is the type of proclamation that bring to mind where it reads, “But the Lord is in his holy Temple; let all the earth keep silence before Him.” It is a proclamation by Jehovah! When God made this proclamation, the entire Earth should have stood up and held silence for an hour. In Revelations 8:1 we read that when the Lamb open the seventh seal there was silence in Heaven for about half an hour. These seals are just judgments, imagine how much more important is Christ Himself. Remember He was the only one worthy of opening the scroll and the seals. He ransomed people from all nations and tribes, and languages with His blood. We stand up for judges when they enter the court rooms. How much more for our Heavenly Father when he speaks. Just as during the transfiguration of Christ when Peter started speaking, God said in “This is my beloved Son, with whom I’m well pleased; listen to Him.” Suddenly the place became quiet as the disciples fell on their faces and were terrified. This proclamation makes us stand up, hold our silence, and listen.
- the prophecy. In this prophecy we see God the Father describing the Son as it happened during His baptism with John the Baptist in where God the Father says “This is my beloved Son, with whom I’m well pleased.” In this same manner.
