Introduction

I know something about every person
Will tell what it is later
Why is Christmas Important?
Show Picture 1
That’s not Christmas
Show Picture 2
This, this happened 200 years ago, why do we care?

Jesus’ Birth was real History

Luke 2:4–7 CSB
Joseph also went up from the town of Nazareth in Galilee, to Judea, to the city of David, which is called Bethlehem, because he was of the house and family line of David, to be registered along with Mary, who was engaged to him and was pregnant. While they were there, the time came for her to give birth. Then she gave birth to her firstborn son, and she wrapped him tightly in cloth and laid him in a manger, because there was no guest room available for them.
Not a fairy tale.
Show Picture 3
God promised to save his people right after Adam sinned in the garden of Eden.
Isiah prophesied how Jesus would be born, 400 years before it happened.
Why wasn’t Jesus born in a normal way?
Mary and Joseph traveled to Bethlehem because of taxes.
Bethlehem was small and overwhelmed.
The would not have been in a stable, but part of a realities house.
Made of stone and plaster.
Joseph would not have been present while Mary was giving birth.
Some of his relatives would have been midwives from Mary.
They would not have had a lot of privacy after Jesus was born.
There was no drummer boy
The animals were likely outside the building to make room.
Show Picture 4
My son was born in July, picture less than an hour old.
It was not a silent night
i was present at all 3 of my children’s births
Birth is painful, exhausting, messy, and dangerous.
I could say lot more, but i won’t to be polite.
Mary was only a teenager.
Mary & Joseph would not have had much privacy at all.
It happened this way though because Isiah said Jesus would be born in Bethlehem.
This is real history we can study and understand.
So what is so special about this baby?

Jesus died for our sins and rose from the grave

When he grew up, He said this:
Mark 14:61–62 CSB
But he kept silent and did not answer. Again the high priest questioned him, “Are you the Messiah, the Son of the Blessed One?” “I am,” said Jesus, “and you will see the Son of Man seated at the right hand of Power and coming with the clouds of heaven.”
And this:
John 14:6 CSB
Jesus told him, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.
Jesus was the prophesied messiah, He was God come to earth as a man
He proved Everything he said was true by raising himself from the dead.
We have SO much historical evidence of who Jesus was and that fact of the empty tomb, from both Jewish and Roman sources.
The Bible teaches us this:
Romans 10:8–10 CSB
On the contrary, what does it say? The message is near you, in your mouth and in your heart. This is the message of faith that we proclaim: If you confess with your mouth, “Jesus is Lord,” and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. One believes with the heart, resulting in righteousness, and one confesses with the mouth, resulting in salvation.
Romans 10:9–10 CSB
If you confess with your mouth, “Jesus is Lord,” and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. One believes with the heart, resulting in righteousness, and one confesses with the mouth, resulting in salvation.
Romans 10:8–10 CSB

Why?
John 3:16 CSB
For God loved the world in this way: He gave his one and only Son, so that everyone who believes in him will not perish but have eternal life.
Jn
God loved you so much, he let his son die.
Show Picture 4
I’m not giving my own son.
First reason was because Jesus’ Birth was real history.
Second reason is because this Jesus Died for your sins and rose from the grave.
This is very interesting and all, but what if I choose not to believe?

Jesus is coming again

Lets take a look at that prophesy from Isiah about Jesus.
Isaiah 9:6–7 CSB
For a child will be born for us, a son will be given to us, and the government will be on his shoulders. He will be named Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Eternal Father, Prince of Peace. The dominion will be vast, and its prosperity will never end. He will reign on the throne of David and over his kingdom, to establish and sustain it with justice and righteousness from now on and forever. The zeal of the Lord of Armies will accomplish this.
Lord of vast armies?
Kingdom?
Does this sound like what happened?
Jesus was a man from a small mountain town that died the death of a criminal.
The people tried to make him king, but Jesus wouldn't let them. He was never in control of any government.
All of the dozens prophesies about the messiah were fulfilled by Jesus precisely, even down the exact amount of money he was betrayed for.
The ancient prophecies about the messiah are not done being fulfilled.
Jesus is coming again
First time as a baby, second time as king.
Revelation 19:11–16 CSB
Then I saw heaven opened, and there was a white horse. Its rider is called Faithful and True, and he judges and makes war with justice. His eyes were like a fiery flame, and many crowns were on his head. He had a name written that no one knows except himself. He wore a robe dipped in blood, and his name is called the Word of God. The armies that were in heaven followed him on white horses, wearing pure white linen. A sharp sword came from his mouth, so that he might strike the nations with it. He will rule them with an iron rod. He will also trample the winepress of the fierce anger of God, the Almighty. And he has a name written on his robe and on his thigh: King of Kings and Lord of Lords.
The first time Jesus came with Mercy to offer forgiveness
The second time will be with vengeance to bring justice.
Remember what I said that I know something about you? This verse tell why:
Philippians 2:7–11 CSB
Instead he emptied himself by assuming the form of a servant, taking on the likeness of humanity. And when he had come as a man, he humbled himself by becoming obedient to the point of death— even to death on a cross. For this reason God highly exalted him and gave him the name that is above every name, so that at the name of Jesus every knee will bow— in heaven and on earth and under the earth— and every tongue will confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.
Every knee will bow, every tongue will confess.
For those who have believed and trusted Jesus, they will kneel in victory. Because their king has won.
For those who rejected Jesus,
for those who didn’t wan to know
Those who though other things were more important
Who wanted to be king of their own lives
Those who choose not to believe.
They will kneel and admit that Jesus is Lord, and they will knell in defeat.
They will bear the punishment of their own sin for all eternity.
The bible was correct about everything else, It will be right about this too.
What must we do to be saved?
Ephesians 2:8–9 CSB
For you are saved by grace through faith, and this is not from yourselves; it is God’s gift—not from works, so that no one can boast.
God loved us so much that He did all the work.
We just need to believe in our heart and confess with our mouth that Jesus is Lord.
Then we have received God’s beautiful gift.
But this gift will not be available forever.
This is the how the bible ends:

He who testifies about these things says, “Yes, I am coming soon.”

Amen! Come, Lord Jesus!

Revelation 22:20 CSB
He who testifies about these things says, “Yes, I am coming soon.” Amen! Come, Lord Jesus!
Any day could be your last day on earth, you don’t know when you will have your last opportunity to say Yes to Jesus.
Jesus, i know I have done wrong things.
But I believe Jesus is the son of God.
I believe that He paid the price for my sin.
And that He rose again from the grave.
Today I accept your free gift of salvation.
Help me now understand how to live my life for you.
