INCREDIBLE CHRISTMAS PART 3
INCREDIBLE CHRISTMAS PART 3
For all the promises of God in him are yea, and in him Amen, unto the glory of God by us.
INTRODUCTION
Good morning and Merry Christmas!!!
We have been in this Christmas series for two weeks and then we took a break from it so that we could do the Christmas play and it was awesome!!!
But this morning we want to get back to our story on the incredible Christmas.
I want you to say this with me again:
For all the promises of God in him are yea, and in him Amen, unto the glory of God by us.
What this is saying is that God will keep His Word.
God has made an agreement with us, you might say that God has made a covenant with us.
That covenant is His promises in other words all the things that He has said will come to pass guarantee!
Men and women do not understand this concept of keep their word.
For instance:
My family has kinda a motto: I guess: (read the sign) and talk about it.
2) Connie’s Christmas present to me several years ago.
She does not honor all the coupons like she said she would.
3) Girls father’s day coupon book.
4) Sometimes I have said and done things, that I told Connie, I would not do and done it or would do and didn’t do.
Men and women’s word is not always dependable but God’s Word is yea and amen.
In the time of Jesus, it was believed that kings were the most powerful men. Some people even believed their kings were gods and worshipped them as gods.
In the time of Jesus, it was believed that kings were the most powerful men. Some people even believed their kings were gods and worshipped them as gods.
Kings had entire armies at their command. Their word was law.
If a king got an idea for a new law guess what? It was law, and if you disobeyed the law, you would face the punishment.
Now with all that in mind let me talk to you about the story of Christ’s birth.
We see, all the nativity scene and many have the three wise men.
but the truth be that didn’t happen until Jesus was three maybe four years of age.
But let’s talk about these wise men, or as many call them the magi and I want to talk about one more king plus the true King of kings.
The Magi were not actually kings. They were called wise men because they were great scholars.
The Magi studied math and science and astronomy and philosophy for many years.
They were wise counselors who advised kings.
These were the men that wise kings turned to for counsel and advice.
These wise men knew the prophecies about the baby Jesus and when they saw the star in the sky, the Magi want to come and see the child they believed to be the promised Messiah, the King of the Jews.
These three kings were believing in the promises.
The New International Version Chapter 2
We saw his star when it rose and have come to worship him.”
(NIV) “Where is the one who has been born king of the Jews? We saw his star when it rose and have come to worship him.”
“Where is the one who has been born king of the Jews? We saw his star when it rose and have come to worship him.”
We saw his star when it rose and have come to worship Him.
They had study the prophecy and where acting on their belief in the Word of God.
Promises are important.
Web define Promise-To give assurance by a promise, or binding declaration.
These Wise men were wise because they were standing on the promises of God’s Word.
Did you know that promises or prediction about Jesus Christ the Messiah in the Old Testament, there are over 300 passages that refer to the first coming of the Messiah.
These scriptural prophecies were out five centuries before Christ was born in Bethlehem.
I want to get a little Professor today, and I want to talk to you about the law of probability.
The Law of probability is the study of statistics includes the theory and laws of Mathematical probability.
So this law of probability says that if the probability of a single event occurring randomly it is one chance in five and the probability of another event occuring in one chance in ten.
So I got some helper this morning, come on guys.
So we are going to flip some coins here 10 of them.
the odds are for all ten of these coins to fall on heads is one chance in 1,024.
Flip them.
These wise men were operating on 1 chance in 2,400.
That the birth of Christ would happen in Bethlehem.
But thou, Bethlehem Ephratah, though thou be little among the thousands of Judah, yet out of thee shall he come forth unto me that is to be ruler in Israel; whose goings forth have been from of old, from everlasting.
Think about not only in the correct place but there was 12 tribes and from the correct tribe.
The sceptre shall not depart from Judah, nor a lawgiver from between his feet, until Shiloh come; and unto him shall the gathering of the people be.
I saying this to ask you a very important question to you step with the promises of God.
You see, these wise men could have just said, Well, we see it here in the prophecy that this is going to happen but we will just wait and see.
But instead of waiting what did they do,
We saw his star when it rose and have come to worship him.”
They went to the promise instead of waiting.
Faith in God and God’s promises is very very important.
Now this is what I want you to see, they didn’t make it at the birth. But they did see the results.
The Magi were following that star for years, but never lost hope to see the King of Jews, the Messiah.
Many times, in your journey here you may not be there when the birth of that promises happened but you will evenly see the results.
I was talking to Connie’s brother Friday night about this sermon and He said you know that is so right, My mom prayed and prayed for me not just to be saved but he said my feet were messed up so bad.
Mom would pray that God would heal me and she would take me to healing revival. He said I have been thru so many healing line, I was sick and tire of see healing line.
He said mom never seen my healing take place, but because of my disability and an accident that occurred my laying on my back for 6 months.
God saved me!!! He said mom may not have seen it but the results are manifested.
God promised and if God promised it then it will come to pass.
So shall my word be that goeth forth out of my mouth: it shall not return unto me void, but it shall accomplish that which I please, and it shall prosper in the thing whereto I sent it.
2. King Herod
Think about this the first person the wise men visited was the actual earthly king of the Jews, Herod.
The wise men were so eager to see and worship the new King, but Herod, he was very upset.
Herod didn’t like hearing about this new King being born because he was afraid that he would be overthrown and he was not going to give up this throne.
That old spirit of doubt and confusion will not give up on you.
Doubt rules in our lives, we say we believe in God but when we are put to the test, doubt will start creeping in.
For verily I say unto you, That whosoever shall say unto this mountain, Be thou removed, and be thou cast into the sea; and shall not doubt in his heart, but shall believe that those things which he saith shall come to pass; he shall have whatsoever he saith.
When we start our path to see the promise then I will guarantee that you will encounter the King Herod in our lives today.
The King Herod of today will be doing their best to destroy your promise, just as he was trying to use the wise men and when he found out the wise men had gone home another way, he attempted to find Jesus and kill him.
But there was nothing Herod could do to stop what Jesus had come to do.
There is nothing that your enemy can do to stop the promise of God.
Just as Jesus came into this world, Jesus is the King of Kings, He is God’s Son.
Even as a baby Jesus held more power in His tiny hands than Herod ever knew.
That promise that God gave you may look small in the eyes of man but in the plan of God it is powerful.
Don’t waver, don’t bow down to doubt, but push forward to the promise.
I don’t think any of us can fully grasp what happened on that first Christmas. Jesus was no ordinary baby. He was divine. He was the Son of God.
As an adult Jesus would heal the sick and the disabled. He would give sight to the blind.
He would raise the dead back to life.
Your promise will change the atmosphere not just your lives but the lives of so many.
Kings had armies and authority, but Jesus held the power of the entire universe in his hands.
This Christmas why don’t you just believe in the promise that God gave you.
That promise may be in the making, you may be traveling to it and it may take years before you see it.
Or that promise you may never see the birth of it, but you will see the result of it.
Because just as God the Father said He was send Jesus, that promise and the fulfillment of that promise change everything.
My hope for all of us, is that we will follow the star to the manger so we can see what God had done for us.
Christmas is about God the Father keep the promise and man go and see and believing in the promise.
