10 “And they shall make an ark of acacia wood; two and a half cubits shall be its length, a cubit and a half its width, and a cubit and a half its height. 11 And you shall overlay it with pure gold, inside and out you shall overlay it, and shall make on it a molding of gold all around. 12 You shall cast four rings of gold for it, and put them in its four corners; two rings shall be on one side, and two rings on the other side. 13 And you shall make poles of acacia wood, and overlay them with gold. 14 You shall put the poles into the rings on the sides of the ark, that the ark may be carried by them.
Why the rings?
What would have happened if there were no rings?
Ocean of Fluoroantimonic Acid, with a teflon tub.
The major covenants between God and man have 3 things:
An ark.
A sign.
A way to bring the ark to us.
17 And these signs will follow those who believe: In My name they will cast out demons; they will speak with new tongues;
17 And these signs will follow those who believe: In My name they will cast out demons; they will speak with new tongues;
Mark 17:
45 And those of the circumcision who believed were astonished, as many as came with Peter, because the gift of the Holy Spirit had been poured out on the Gentiles also. 46 For they heard them speak with tongues and magnify God.
Then Peter answered,
Acts 10:
22 Therefore tongues are for a sign, not to those who believe but to unbelievers; but prophesying is not for unbelievers but for those who believe.
1 Corinthians 14:
When we pray in tongues, our Spirit prays.
14 For if I pray in a tongue, my spirit prays, but my understanding is unfruitful. 15 What is the conclusion then? I will pray with the spirit, and I will also pray with the understanding. I will sing with the spirit, and I will also sing with the understanding.
1 Corinthians 14:14
We don’t know what we should pray for, so tongues prays through us, things we can’t know to pray for.
26 Likewise the Spirit also helps in our weaknesses. For we do not know what we should pray for as we ought, but the Spirit Himself makes intercession for us with groanings which cannot be uttered.
It “builds us up” and “edifies” us. (edify means to “build up”)
Jude 20:
20 But you, beloved, building yourselves up on your most holy faith, praying in the Holy Spirit, 21 keep yourselves in the love of God, looking for the mercy of our Lord Jesus Christ unto eternal life.
20 But you, beloved, building yourselves up on your most holy faith, praying in the Holy Spirit,
20 But you, beloved, building yourselves up on your most holy faith, praying in the Holy Spirit, 21 keep yourselves in the love of God, looking for the mercy of our Lord Jesus Christ unto eternal life.
22 And on some have compassion, making a distinction; 23 but others save with fear, pulling them out of the fire, hating even the garment defiled by the flesh.
Jude
4 He who speaks in a tongue edifies himself, but he who prophesies edifies the church.
Bottom Line: tongues is the transition into the presence of God. Just like the rings, tongues brings God’s presence to us.
