Romans 13:8–10

Romans 13:8–10 NLT
8 Owe nothing to anyone—except for your obligation to love one another. If you love your neighbor, you will fulfill the requirements of God’s law. 9 For the commandments say, “You must not commit adultery. You must not murder. You must not steal. You must not covet.” These—and other such commandments—are summed up in this one commandment: “Love your neighbor as yourself.” 10 Love does no wrong to others, so love fulfills the requirements of God’s law.
Scripture instructs God’s people to love one another and illustrates what this means in practice.
Reasons for loving one another
God commands it
Galatians 5:14
Galatians 5:14 NLT
14 For the whole law can be summed up in this one command: “Love your neighbor as yourself.”
Leviticus 19:18 NLT
18 “Do not seek revenge or bear a grudge against a fellow Israelite, but love your neighbor as yourself. I am the Lord.
Love for strangers commanded:
Leviticus 19:34 NKJV
34 The stranger who dwells among you shall be to you as one born among you, and you shall love him as yourself; for you were strangers in the land of Egypt: I am the Lord your God.
Deuteronomy 10:19 NKJV
19 Therefore love the stranger, for you were strangers in the land of Egypt.
What is love?

agapáō; contracted agapṓ, fut. agapḗsō. To esteem, love, indicating a direction of the will and finding one’s joy in something or someone. It differs from philéō (5368), to love, indicating feelings, warm affection, the kind of love expressed by a kiss (phílēma [5370]).

Matthew 22:39 AMP
39 And a second is like it: You shall love your neighbor as [you do] yourself.
John 15:12 NLT
12 This is my commandment: Love each other in the same way I have loved you.
1 Thessalonians 4:9 NLT
9 But we don’t need to write to you about the importance of loving each other, for God himself has taught you to love one another.
Hebrews 13:1 NLT
1 Keep on loving each other as brothers and sisters.
1 Peter 1:22 NLT
22 You were cleansed from your sins when you obeyed the truth, so now you must show sincere love to each other as brothers and sisters. Love each other deeply with all your heart.
1 John 3:23 NLT
23 And this is his commandment: We must believe in the name of his Son, Jesus Christ, and love one another, just as he commanded us.
1 John 4:21 NLT
21 And he has given us this command: Those who love God must also love their fellow believers.
2 John 5 NLT
5 I am writing to remind you, dear friends, that we should love one another. This is not a new commandment, but one we have had from the beginning.
God has taken the initiative in showing love
1 John 4:11 NLT
11 Dear friends, since God loved us that much, we surely ought to love each other.
Malachi 2:10 NLT
10 Are we not all children of the same Father? Are we not all created by the same God? Then why do we betray each other, violating the covenant of our ancestors?
1 Corinthians 8:11–13 NLT
11 So because of your superior knowledge, a weak believer for whom Christ died will be destroyed. 12 And when you sin against other believers by encouraging them to do something they believe is wrong, you are sinning against Christ. 13 So if what I eat causes another believer to sin, I will never eat meat again as long as I live—for I don’t want to cause another believer to stumble.
1 John 3:16 NLT
16 We know what real love is because Jesus gave up his life for us. So we also ought to give up our lives for our brothers and sisters.
God’s people are known by their love
John 13:35 NLT
35 Your love for one another will prove to the world that you are my disciples.”
1 John 2:10 NLT
10 Anyone who loves a fellow believer is living in the light and does not cause others to stumble.
1 John 3:14 NLT
14 If we love our brothers and sisters who are believers, it proves that we have passed from death to life. But a person who has no love is still dead.
1 John 4:7 NLT
7 Dear friends, let us continue to love one another, for love comes from God. Anyone who loves is a child of God and knows God.
1 John 4:16 NLT
16 We know how much God loves us, and we have put our trust in his love. God is love, and all who live in love live in God, and God lives in them.
1 John 4:20 NLT
20 If someone says, “I love God,” but hates a fellow believer, that person is a liar; for if we don’t love people we can see, how can we love God, whom we cannot see?

13 For you have been called to live in freedom, my brothers and sisters. But don’t use your freedom to satisfy your sinful nature. Instead, use your freedom to serve one another in love.

1 John 3:17 NLT
17 If someone has enough money to live well and sees a brother or sister in need but shows no compassion—how can God’s love be in that person?
Examples of the demonstration of love for one another
Luke 7:2–6 NLT
2 At that time the highly valued slave of a Roman officer was sick and near death. 3 When the officer heard about Jesus, he sent some respected Jewish elders to ask him to come and heal his slave. 4 So they earnestly begged Jesus to help the man. “If anyone deserves your help, he does,” they said, 5 “for he loves the Jewish people and even built a synagogue for us.” 6 So Jesus went with them. But just before they arrived at the house, the officer sent some friends to say, “Lord, don’t trouble yourself by coming to my home, for I am not worthy of such an honor.

In conclusion:
Remember Paul’s love for his churches
Corinth:
2 Corinthians 1:3–6 NLT
3 All praise to God, the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ. God is our merciful Father and the source of all comfort. 4 He comforts us in all our troubles so that we can comfort others. When they are troubled, we will be able to give them the same comfort God has given us. 5 For the more we suffer for Christ, the more God will shower us with his comfort through Christ. 6 Even when we are weighed down with troubles, it is for your comfort and salvation! For when we ourselves are comforted, we will certainly comfort you. Then you can patiently endure the same things we suffer.
2 Corinthians 2:4 NLT
4 I wrote that letter in great anguish, with a troubled heart and many tears. I didn’t want to grieve you, but I wanted to let you know how much love I have for you.
Philippi:
Philippians 1:3 NLT
3 Every time I think of you, I give thanks to my God.
Philippians 1:7 NLT
7 So it is right that I should feel as I do about all of you, for you have a special place in my heart. You share with me the special favor of God, both in my imprisonment and in defending and confirming the truth of the Good News.
Thessalonica:
1 Thessalonians 3:7–10 NLT
7 So we have been greatly encouraged in the midst of our troubles and suffering, dear brothers and sisters, because you have remained strong in your faith. 8 It gives us new life to know that you are standing firm in the Lord. 9 How we thank God for you! Because of you we have great joy as we enter God’s presence. 10 Night and day we pray earnestly for you, asking God to let us see you again to fill the gaps in your faith.
What is your Love, for one another now?
How has God’s love changed your hearts as you have heard HIs words?
Have A Great Week!!!
