He is the Saviour Messiah, Christ the Lord

We find in verse 11 of this passage highlights for us that the person who the angel told the Shepherds not to be afraid of, for who was born that day is a Saviour he is the Messiah, the Lord. He is Jesus. This is in fulfillment of the promises that God had revealed many years before the birth of Jesus.
So our second point in this verse highlights for us that the person that the angel told the Shepherds not to be afraid of, for who was born that day is a Saviour he is the Messiah, the Lord. This is in fulfillment of the promises that God had revealed many years before the birth of Jesus.
Saviour
The verse starts out by telling us that Jesus would be our Saviour. A Saviour is someone who comes and delivers or saves their people from their enemies. Jesus will be the only one who would come and save us from our Sins.
tells us “There is salvation in one one else! God has given no other name under heaven by which we must be saved.
This is an incredible distinction because it reminds each of us of our need for a Saviour. You see this is telling us that each one of us has this need for someone to come and save us from our actions, from our thoughts, from our desires. From ourselves.
We then see in where it tells us, “He gave his one and only Son, so that everyone who believes in him will not perish but have eternal life. 17 God sent his Son into the world not to judge the world, but to save the world through him.
He gave his one and only Son, so that everyone who believes in him will not perish but have eternal life. 17 God sent his Son into the world not to judge the world, but to save the world through him.
Messiah
He is also identified as the Messiah. This pointed to the fact that Jesus was the anointed one. By us recognizing that Jesus is the Messiah or anointed one is us declaring that he was uniquely set apart by God.
He was set a part by God to be king over his people here on earth.
Why would we need to know this? Why would we need to know that Jesus is Messiah the Christ and that he is set apart? Because it recognized for us that Jesus is anointed by God that God has appointed him to come and to restore his people. This reminds us that it is only Jesus who can do this for us. It shows us that he should be high and lifted up in our lives. That Jesus is the hero that is sent for us.
This is an incredible distinction because it reminds each of us of our need for a Saviour. A Saviour is someone who comes and delivers their people from their enemies. So this is telling us that each one of us has this need for someone to come and save us from our actions, from our thoughts, from desires.
Lord
And then lastly we are told that Jesus is our Lord. This speaks to the need for Jesus to be the master of our lives. This speaks to His total possession and our absolute submission to him. Jesus was given this title at his birth. This wasn’t something that was said about him later in his life. He was born for this purpose, he came to live out this purpose. And I don’t think that Luke would tell us this for no reason. He wanted for us to know that this child that was born of Mary is our only King and has been given the authority to be Lord and Christ for us all.
And the verse tells us that this person had come that day in the form of a baby born in the town of David.
tells us, “For in Christ lives all the fullness of God in a human body. 10 So you also are complete through your union with Christ, who is the head over every ruler and authority.”
And the verse tells us that this person had come that day in the form of a baby born in the town of David.
Our second item in this verse highlights for us that the person that we are not to be afraid of, who was born that day is a Saviour he is the Messiah, the Lord. This is in fulfillment of the promise from God that he will give us
Folks this is Jesus whose birth we celebrate. This is our Saviour. This is our Messiah, this is our Lord. May we recognize that tonight and as we celebrate tomorrow and as we go through this life.
This is an incredible distinction because it reminds each of us of our need for a Saviour. A Saviour is someone who comes and delivers their people from their enemies. So this is telling us that each one of us has this need for someone to come and save us from our actions, from our thoughts, from desires.
