Arrival in Mexico - Cortés

Arrival in Mexico - Cortés

Arrival in Mexico - Cortés

In 1519, Cortés' ships reached the Mexican coast at Yucatan. Mexico had
been discovered by the Spanish just a year prior, and they were eager to settle it. Cortés was also interested in converting natives to Christianity. "His view on the indigenous people was similar to the majority of Europeans of that day — they were inferior culturally, technologically, and religiously," said Cosme. "While in Cozumel, he was astounded to learn of the gruesome rituals, including human sacrifice, of the natives to their many gods … He and his men removed and destroyed the pagan idols, and replaced them with crosses and figures of the Virgin Mary."
At Tabasco, Cortés was met with resistance from natives. He quickly overpowered them, and the natives surrendered. They provided the Europeans with food, supplies and 20 women, including an interpreter called Malintzin (also known as La Malinche or Doña Marina). La Malinche became an important figure in Cortés' life and legacy.
After a few months in Yucatan, Cortés headed west. On the southeastern coast he founded Veracruz, where he dismissed the authority of Velasquez (vel-ask-ez) and declared himself under orders from King Charles I of Spain. He disciplined his men and trained them to act as a cohesive unit of soldiers. He also burned his ships to make retreat impossible.

I WILL NOT TURN BACK!

Cortes built an army of disciplined, well trained, and unified soldiers. When they marched into the great city of Tenochtitlán, they did not come without purpose. You see, Cortes’ men knew what they had came to do. They were not there to lolly gag around, but overthrow a treacherous empire that commited gruesome acts unto their own people and the cities they conquered. Many of the cities ruled by the Aztecs welcomed the Spanish Conquistadors; however, what drives men to face darkness with the mindset of “I WILL NOT TURN BACK”.
- The men were disciplined
Bringing it into the Apostolic Gateway’s perspective: Reading of the Word, Prayer, and Soul Winning
A Militia is well trained in their arms…our battles are not fought with bombs and guns but through the Spirit. If we do not know Jesus how do we intend to intercede for others that we’re trying to win to the Lord.
We spend to much time on the defensive…I don’t know about you, but I’m ready to conquer the enemies territory!
Unsaved loved ones, unsaved friends, an unsaved city!
Lets bring this into perspective:

5 Jesus answered, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born of ijwater and of jthe Spirit, he cannot enter into the kingdom of God.

John 3:5

5 sNot by works of righteousness which we have done, but taccording to his mercy he saved us, by uvthe washing of wregeneration, and xrenewing of vthe Holy Ghost; 6 Which he yshed on us †abundantly through Jesus Christ our Saviour;

Tit 3:5-6

5 he saved us, not because of any works of righteousness that we had done, but according to his mercy, through the watera of rebirth and renewal by the Holy Spirit. 6 This Spirit he poured out on us richly through Jesus Christ our Savior,

Tit 3:5-6
Titus 3:5–6 KJV 1900
Not by works of righteousness which we have done, but according to his mercy he saved us, by the washing of regeneration, and renewing of the Holy Ghost; Which he shed on us abundantly through Jesus Christ our Saviour;
There will be those who do not make it into heaven unless they are born again.
I want you to think about all those devastated from Hurricane Michael…now I want to bring in reality the importance of your mission here: This Church is to be a lighthouse! The seriousness of this gospel is vital people! I don’t know about you, but I want to see people saved and on fire for Jesus! I don’t want Jesus to come back and see ol’ Berry sitting around playing games with God and not on fire for Him!
We need to commit to pursuing God and winning souls like never before in 2018!
False doctrine, rebellion, and perversion have been incumbent on the people of Panama City for to long! It’s time to shed some light in this dark city!
I wonder if Apostolic Gateway has some saints that will say “I have no need to turn back!”; God what you have for me is better than yesterday! What will you have me do!?
- Cortes burned the ships
“Do or die trying” - Just a bit radical!
Will you burn the ships of sin, laziness, rebellion, hatred, bitterness, and unnecessary business (To clarify, are you busy with godly things? Is He your priority/master in life?)!
IN 2018 LETS COMMIT CONNECT AND PURSUE GOD WITH ALL WE HAVE!
TAKING IT ONE STEP FURTHER, LETS PURSUE PEOPLE THIS YEAR! LETS PRODUCE MORE DISCIPLES!!!!
