8 And there were shepherds living out in the fields nearby, keeping watch over their flocks at night. 9 An angel of the Lord appeared to them, and the glory of the Lord shone around them, and they were terrified. 10 But the angel said to them, “Do not be afraid. I bring you good news that will cause great joy for all the people. 11 Today in the town of David a Savior has been born to you; he is the Messiah, the Lord. 12 This will be a sign to you: You will find a baby wrapped in cloths and lying in a manger.”
13 Suddenly a great company of the heavenly host appeared with the angel, praising God and saying,
14 “Glory to God in the highest heaven,
and on earth peace to those on whom his favor rests.”

The Stinky Yet Loved People 8-10
8 And there were shepherds living out in the fields nearby, keeping watch over their flocks at night.
Shepherds- Guardians of sheep who lived among the ones they protected.
They themselves are guardians
They lived among those who they protected
Probably ceremonially unclean and stinky
They were minding their business doing what they usually do… BUT GOD
9 An angel of the Lord appeared to them, and the glory of the Lord shone around them, and they were terrified.
AFRAID WITH A GREAT FEAR!
When something greater than you comes into your life it is normal to be afraid! They were protectors by trade but feared what they understood to be greater than they. ex: I don’t know if I can live up to God’s standard., Or “I just want to be what I already am.”

12 This will be a sign to you: You will find a baby wrapped in cloths and lying in a manger.”
a sign for you
something that points to an important event
If your clothes continue to shrink that may be a sign that you are eating too much
If
If your wife becomes silent during an argument that may be a sign that you are in trouble
If people are angry when your favorite football team wins that is a sign you may be a Cowboys fan
BUT THIS SIGN WAS A SIGN THAT WOULD POINT TO THE SAVIOR! FOR THEM, FOR ME, AND FOR YOU!
13 Suddenly a great company of the heavenly host appeared with the angel, praising God and saying,
14 “Glory to God in the highest heaven,
and on earth peace to those on whom his favor rests.”
lk 2 13-14
13 And suddenly there was with the angel a multitude of the heavenly host, praising God and saying,
The angels proclamation
Give Yahweh God His props
HALLELUJAH!!! (PRAISE GOD)
Peace (to be without trouble) to those who PLEASE God!
Hallelujah
I've heard about this baby boy
Who's come to earth to bring us joy
And I just want to sing this song to you
It goes like this, the fourth, the fifth
The minor fall, the major lift
With every breath I'm singing Hallelujah
Hallelujah, Hallelujah, Hallelujah, Hallelujah
The shepherds left their flocks by night
To see this baby wrapped in light
A host of angels led them all to You
It was just as the angels said
You'll find Him in a manger bed
Immanuel and Savior, Hallelujah
Hallelujah, Hallelujah, Hallelujah, Hallelujah
I know You came to rescue me
This baby boy would grow to be
A man and one day die for me and you
My sins would drive the nails in You
That rugged cross was my cross, too
Still every breath You drew was Hallelujah
Hallelujah, Hallelujah, Hallelujah, Hallelujah
