CHANGING OUR WORLD
WE ARE MORE THAN CONQUERERS (WEEK #1)
Who shall separate us from the love of Christ?
Shall trouble or hardship or persecution or famine or nakedness or danger or sword?...No, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him who loved us.” ,
INTRODUCTION
Well, I hope you guys had a great Christmas, and some of you came back to church tonight and many of you are still on Christmas vacation.
But tonight I want to start a mini series on Changing our world.
My heart in launching this series is discovering that make declarations will lead to self-change and that self-change can lead to our world changing.
It’s all comes from the idea that “You can’t lead others to places you have never been.”
So this cannot just be a declaration, but a state of being.
It’s must be a decision to live day in and day out, regardless of how we feel or what faces us as more than a conqueror.
There was a man named Jabez who was more honorable than any of his brothers.
His mother named him Jabez because his birth had been so painful.
He was the one who prayed to the God of Israel, "Oh, that You would bless me and expand my territory!
Please be with me in all that I do, and keep me from all trouble and pain!"
And God granted him his request.
And Jabez called on the God of Israel, saying, Oh that thou wouldest bless me indeed, and enlarge my coast, and that thine hand might be with me, and that thou wouldest keep me from evil, that it may not grieve me!
And God granted him that which he requested.
This is what I want you to see, Jabez own mother did not welcome his birth.
This is what I want you to see, Jabez own mother did not welcome his birth.
Jabez’ childhood was not good, He was dealing with a lot of discouragement, he deals with a lot of shame and dishonor.
But look at his prayer here>
When he had nothing else left, he turn to God and God heard his prayer and grant his request.
But the request was interesting, because he did not ask God to change his circumstances but instead he ask God to bless him, being change me and expand my territory.
Now understand what I am saying tonight Jabez did not ask God first to change his circumstances but that God would change him to be able to adjust to God and the circumstances.
If we would be honest with ourselves, if there’s things wrong in our lives then the problem is within us.
With God we can do all things.
Not that I was ever in need, for I have learned how to be content with whatever I have.
I know how to live on almost nothing or with everything.
I have learned the secret of living in every situation, whether it is with a full stomach or empty, with plenty or little.
For I can do everything through Christ, who gives me strength.
The glory of grace of God is that lift us above the circumstances and conditions so that we are able to say with Apostle Paul: I have learned how to be content with whatever I have.
The word “content” here is a peculiar expression, signifying the containing of his resources within his own soul so that he is not dependent on outside conditions for his happiness.
His heaven is in his heart not in his circumstances.
Apostle Paul said that he learned or was instructed the secret of this was that I can do everything through Christ, who gives me strength.
You see, the indwelling of Christ in our lives is what makes us more than a conqueror.
Let’s get back to this more than a conqueror.
Let’s get back to this more than a conqueror.
How can a person be more than a conqueror?
There’s a ancient saying, “ That every times we conquer an enemy that we absorbed their strength and it is added to our strength.
It is possible to defeat our enemy and not only defeat our enemy but to capture our enemy and make them fight for us.
Explain this:
Sin, that was controlling us and beating us down is now being turn after we defeat it to help us reach other people.
The WIN, is for us to stop being self-focused and to become focused on the reality of victory that is ours inspite of our circumstances.
Our first message in this series is “We Are More Than Conquerors.”
This is not only a declaration, but a state of being.
It’s a decision to live as such day in and day out, regardless of how we feel or what faces us.
Living as “more than a conqueror” will not only help us lead by example, but will help us shine Christ through the lens of ultimate victory that we get in return for being called by His name.
The WIN, therefore, is for students to stop being self-focused, which is a skewed reality, and become focused on the reality of victory that is ours inspire of our circumstances.
To see this way we have to see beyond ourselves.
If our students are to influence others, it starts with living with this understanding.

We are pressed on every side by troubles, but we are not crushed and broken.
We are perplexed, but we don't give up and quit.
We are hunted down, but God never abandons us.
We get knocked down, but we get up again.
It’s a decision to live as such day in and day out, regardless of how we feel or what faces us.
There’s this greek word: hypernikaō - to gain a surpassing victory, to vanquish beyond, to gain a decisive victory, overkill.
• “You are from God and have overcome the world, because the One who is in you is greater than the one who is in the world.”
• “The Lord will fight for you, you need only to be still.”
• “That night Jacob got up and took his family and crossed the Jabbok river.
After he had sent them across the stream, he sent over all his possessions.
So Jacob was left alone, and a man wrestled with him till daybreak.
When the man saw that he could not overpower him, he touched the socket of Jacob's hip so that his hip was wrenched as he wrestled with the man.
Then the man said, "Let me go, for it is daybreak."
But Jacob replied, "I will not let you go unless you bless me."
The man asked him, "What is your name?" "Jacob," he answered.
Then the man said, "Your name will no longer be Jacob, but Israel, because you have struggled with God and with humans and have overcome."
Jacob said, "Please tell me your name."
But he replied, "Why do you ask my name?"
Then he blessed him there.”
Genesis
32.22-31
• “When you go through deep waters, I will be with you.
When you go through rivers of difficulty, you will not drown.
When you walk through the fire of oppression, you will not be burned up; the flames will not consume you.”
Isaiah
43.2
