P-PRAISE

Intro: I want to see Pine Grove become a real “House of prayer”
Matthew 21:13 KJV 1900
13 And said unto them, It is written, My house shall be called the house of prayer; but ye have made it a den of thieves.
Matthew 2
Churches have become a lot of things other then a house of prayer.
a. The first church in Acts stared with prayer.
b. But, it had to be more than just saying a prayer. This means truly praying.
Acts 1:12–14 KJV 1900
12 Then returned they unto Jerusalem from the mount called Olivet, which is from Jerusalem a sabbath day’s journey. 13 And when they were come in, they went up into an upper room, where abode both Peter, and James, and John, and Andrew, Philip, and Thomas, Bartholomew, and Matthew, James the son of Alphaeus, and Simon Zelotes, and Judas the brother of James. 14 These all continued with one accord in prayer and supplication, with the women, and Mary the mother of Jesus, and with his brethren.
Acts 1:12-
:
b. This was after Jesus ascended into heaven. He had told them to go back to Jerusalem and wait. They when back and prayed.
Acts 2:42 KJV 1900
42 And they continued stedfastly in the apostles’ doctrine and fellowship, and in breaking of bread, and in prayers.
Acts
Acts 4:31 KJV 1900
31 And when they had prayed, the place was shaken where they were assembled together; and they were all filled with the Holy Ghost, and they spake the word of God with boldness.
Acts 2:42 KJV 1900
42 And they continued stedfastly in the apostles’ doctrine and fellowship, and in breaking of bread, and in prayers.
Acts 4:
Acts 2:
God will move in a great and mighty way. But we have to be willing to pray. That is why we are going to having a study on prayer. And have prayer meeting. We will have times were we will pray of sick people, but pray for the needs of our church.
First step in effective prayer.

R-REPENT

PRAISE:

A-ASK

Y-YIELD

Praying consistently will change our life. (our church) God wants to bless you, and He wants us to enjoy His blessing, but unless you pray, you are going to miss out of a lot.
Psalm 100
Psalm 100:1–4 KJV 1900
1 Make a joyful noise unto the Lord, all ye lands. 2 Serve the Lord with gladness: Come before his presence with singing. 3 Know ye that the Lord he is God: It is he that hath made us, and not we ourselves; We are his people, and the sheep of his pasture. 4 Enter into his gates with thanksgiving, And into his courts with praise: Be thankful unto him, and bless his name.
I think all Christians know they supposed to pray, and want to pray.
a. But Christians, if they are completely honest, will have to admit, their prayer life is somewhere between mediocre and non-existent.
b. Getting up in the morning and saying a short little prayer, or praying before you eat, or when you have a need, is not an effective prayer life.
c. Today were are going to look at a simple acronym for pray.

P-Praise

Psalm 100:1–4 KJV 1900
1 Make a joyful noise unto the Lord, all ye lands. 2 Serve the Lord with gladness: Come before his presence with singing. 3 Know ye that the Lord he is God: It is he that hath made us, and not we ourselves; We are his people, and the sheep of his pasture. 4 Enter into his gates with thanksgiving, And into his courts with praise: Be thankful unto him, and bless his name.
Notice VS 2
“come before his presence with singing”
a. This is telling us to come before God with praise and thanksgiving. We don’t have to go to a priest to gain access to God.
b. We can come into the presence of God on our own, but we have to do so with thanksgiving.
c. If you have a computer, a smart phone, and some type of app on them, the only way to gain access to typing in a password.
d. The pass word to gain access to God is, “Thank you”
e. Start by giving thanks.

R-RENT

Repentance through prayer, means taking the time before God to search your heart, and repent of anything that has come between you and God
Psalm 19:12–13 KJV 1900
12 Who can understand his errors? Cleanse thou me from secret faults. 13 Keep back thy servant also from presumptuous sins; Let them not have dominion over me: Then shall I be upright, And I shall be innocent from the great transgression.
Psalm 19:12–13 NASB95
12 Who can discern his errors? Acquit me of hidden faults. 13 Also keep back Your servant from presumptuous sins; Let them not rule over me; Then I will be blameless, And I shall be acquitted of great transgression.
Psalm 19:12-13
“Who can understand my errors?”
“errors” A sin committed through inadvertence and error.
a. The writer (David) here is saying, you may not always know when you have done wrong. How do we find out, ask God.
VS 13
“Willful sin” Don’t let sin have dominion over you.
a. Sometimes it may be our attitude
a. Sometimes it may be our attitude toward others. Our thoughts and our ways need to be consistent with God’s character.
b. God will show us our sins.
c. We have to be willing to admit and repent. This is important is we a going to go to God in prayer.
Psalm 66:18 KJV 1900
18 If I regard iniquity in my heart, The Lord will not hear me:

Matthew
Matthew 7:7–11 KJV 1900
7 Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you: 8 For every one that asketh receiveth; and he that seeketh findeth; and to him that knocketh it shall be opened. 9 Or what man is there of you, whom if his son ask bread, will he give him a stone? 10 Or if he ask a fish, will he give him a serpent? 11 If ye then, being evil, know how to give good gifts unto your children, how much more shall your Father which is in heaven give good things to them that ask him?
1 John 3:21–22 KJV 1900
21 Beloved, if our heart condemn us not, then have we confidence toward God. 22 And whatsoever we ask, we receive of him, because we keep his commandments, and do those things that are pleasing in his sight.
I John
God loves and He wants what is best for us. He want to answer our prayers, but there are conditions for receiving for you ask God for.

Proverbs 3:5–6 KJV 1900
5 Trust in the Lord with all thine heart; And lean not unto thine own understanding. 6 In all thy ways acknowledge him, And he shall direct thy paths.
“Delight” Means, to take pleasure in.
Proverbs
Proverbs 3:4–5 KJV 1900
4 So shalt thou find favour and good understanding In the sight of God and man. 5 Trust in the Lord with all thine heart; And lean not unto thine own understanding.
To trust in God means to yield to Him. To trust even when you don’t understand.
a. Yielding to God in your prayer life means you are willing to accept the answer God gives you.
b. How do you practice yielding to the Lord when you pray? A big part of yielding is when you stop talking and wait and listen, seek to hear from God.
c. That means when you pray, you have to stop and say, “Lord is are anything you want to say to me? Do you have any instructions for me? Is there anything you want me to change?
d. Then silently wait for Him to speak to you.
2. As you do this type of praying, you may be surprise what things come to your attention.
a. Spend more time with your family.
b. Spend less time doing something else.
c. Do something for a neighbor, co-worker.
d. Show some appreciation for someone.
3. You will hear for God if you ask Him to speak to your heart, and silently wait.
a. During the innovation today, no words just music playing.
