Conclusion: The passage we looked at today hit a sensitive area for many in the reality that some will leave the faith they once professed. A very sad reality. So Paul gives us a clear teaching of how these charlatans come into being. They are deceived people themselves, where their consciences are seared and lose all ability to grasp truth as laid out in scripture. They fully embrace what deceitful spirits fill their mind with and proclaim it as truth. They take advantage of the vulnerable who devote themselves to wander after myths and conspiracies. So Paul warns Timothy and the church to correct this teaching with God’s word. Test all things and toss out what is false, including an unrepentant false teacher so that he will not lead the faithful down a dark path into sin. Let us look to God’s word and believe it. Trust and obey our good Father who gives all things that He has created for our benefit. Be thankful and pray as you receive with joy the wonderful gifts of our Lord. Beloved, take care that you not be deceived. If you have succumbed to false teaching as all of us have to some degree, confess it. Ask God for wisdom and grace to discern what is truth. Rest in the loving arms of your Good Shepherd who will always protect you and keep you from falling away. If you are truly converted you have no fear of losing your salvation. Not because of how faithful you are but because of the faith of the Almighty God.
