In understanding these questions - we understand Theology better - we understand who God is - and how we should react based on our knowledge of Him.

This answer can be found in . This passage explains how mankind had fallen into gross sin.
Look at verse 5 to find the answer:ְ
וְ
5 Then the Lord saw that the wickedness of man was great in the earth, and that every intent of the thoughts of his heart was only evil continually.
Notice that the thoughts of mankind doomed the earth to its watery grave. Understand that mankind was (& is) evil and all his thoughts were wicked. His evil actions were carried out by his evil thought life.
Notice that it is the thoughts of mankind that had doomed the earth to its watery grave. Understand that mankind is wicked and all his thoughts are wicked.

According to verse 12 mankind had corrupted themselves, so God decided to destroy mankind.
Think of it this way. If you have a computer - and it becomes corruptible - what good is it? If you lose all your files and data and it does not work right it becomes trash!
In the same way - man who was made in the image of God turned from the moral, mental, and spiritual image of God and corrupted it with sin.
Look closely at Verses 11 & 13 - what was one of the main “sins” that God hated? It’s an 8 letter word: violence.
Think of it this way. If you have a computer - and it becomes coruptible - what good is it? If you lose all your files and data and it does not work right it becomes trash!

In the same way - man who was made in the image of God turned from the moral, mental, and spiritual image of God and corrupted themselves.
Because every thought of mankind was wicked
This caused them to become corrupted
This corruption was manifested in violence

Notice in verse 8 that Noah found grace in the eyes of the Lord.
The word grace from the Hebrew is חֵן ḥēn: A masculine noun meaning favor, grace, acceptance.

So why did Noah find grace in the eyes of the Lord? Look at verse 9:
9 This is the genealogy of Noah. Noah was a just man, perfect in his generations. Noah walked with God.

What does the word “just” mean?
It is the Hebrew word צַדִּיק (ṣaddiyq) which means: just; innocent; in the right; upright; devout

It is the Hebrew word: תָּמִים (tāmiym) which means: blameless, complete.

It is the Hebrew word: הָלַךְ (hālaḵ) which means: to go, to come, to walk

So why did God spare Noah? He showed Him grace and favor because:
Noah was blameless (his thoughts were not always wicked)

He was innocent (not corrupt) like the people.
He would go to (or walk with) God.

Now compare the wicked world to Noah
They had wicked hearts - his heart was blameless
They were corrupted - He was innocent
They loved violence - He loved walking with God

Because Mankind has wicked thoughts which brought corruption which lead to violence

His thoughts were blameless, he was innocent (compared to the wicked people) and he walked with God.

Notice two things Noah did right.

Notice that Noah completely obeyed all that God said!
The second thing he did - we find in

and did not spare the ancient world, but saved Noah, one of eight people, a preacher of righteousness, bringing in the flood on the world of the ungodly;

Peter is saying that Noah was a preacher or proclaimer of righteousness. He saw the coming doom and tried to warn the wicked world - sadly they did not listen.

Noah was righteous for three main reasons
He walked with God (was blameless)
He did all that God commanded
He preached (or proclaimed) about the upcoming judgment

As a Christian - you need to walk with God and not be like this wicked world.
As a Christian - you need to do all that God commands you to do.
As a Christian - you need to witness and tell the world of the future judgment

Understand that God hates wickedness and must judge it
Understand that God looks at my thought life - so I must make sure my thoughts are not wicked
Understand that a Holy God hates violence which is wickedness
