New Year
New Year
We are in the last day of the year.
In reality it is new year now in many parts of the world.
At 3pm gmt our son new year started. 8 hours after gmt our daughter will celebrate new year.
How do you celebrate new year?
Last Day of the Feast
Last Day of the Feast
It was not the last day of the year but it was the last day of the feast. We read it in,
On the last day, that great day of the feast, Jesus stood and cried out, saying, “If anyone thirsts, let him come to Me and drink. He who believes in Me, as the Scripture has said, out of his heart will flow rivers of living water.”
It is believed this is the feast of booths or Tabernacles. It celebrated the provision of God in the wilderness and in the history of Israel.
Each day of the feast tradition says that water was cafried from the pool of Siloam to the altar and poured out. It symbolized thanksgiving but also foreshadowed the coming of the Messiag
On the final day, the great day of the feast this happened seven times.
One can imagine on that seventh day of the feast and that seventh time on that final day, Jesus then cries out..
It is a model of using every opportunity and every circumstance to help proclaim spiritual truth.
All who are Thirsty
All who are Thirsty
Jesus gave one qualification to his invitation. That someone is ThIrsty.
No other distinction is made.
One cam imagine Jesus using New Years Eve to bring forth truth.
Think about the vast consumption of alcohol on this day.
Jesus would cry out “If anyone thirsts, let Him come to me and drink”.
“If anyone thirsts, let Him come to me and drink”.
There in no point condemning the misuse of alcohol without pointing to the one who can truly meet the need.
Let us all heed the call of Jesus this New Year.
In spiritual matters, the outflow is always dependent on the inflow. It is in proportion and we can never exhaust the Source.
So let us all heed the call of Jesus and drink deeply.
We don’t need alcohol.
Let us all drink deeply of Jesus. He quenches our thirst and yet always leaves us wanting more of Him.
