Jonah 1:17–2:10 NKJV
17 Now the Lord had prepared a great fish to swallow Jonah. And Jonah was in the belly of the fish three days and three nights. 1 Then Jonah prayed to the Lord his God from the fish’s belly. 2 And he said: “I cried out to the Lord because of my affliction, And He answered me. “Out of the belly of Sheol I cried, And You heard my voice. 3 For You cast me into the deep, Into the heart of the seas, And the floods surrounded me; All Your billows and Your waves passed over me. 4 Then I said, ‘I have been cast out of Your sight; Yet I will look again toward Your holy temple.’ 5 The waters surrounded me, even to my soul; The deep closed around me; Weeds were wrapped around my head. 6 I went down to the moorings of the mountains; The earth with its bars closed behind me forever; Yet You have brought up my life from the pit, O Lord, my God. 7 “When my soul fainted within me, I remembered the Lord; And my prayer went up to You, Into Your holy temple. 8 “Those who regard worthless idols Forsake their own Mercy. 9 But I will sacrifice to You With the voice of thanksgiving; I will pay what I have vowed. Salvation is of the Lord.” 10 So the Lord spoke to the fish, and it vomited Jonah onto dry land.

Romans 5:3–4 The Living Bible
3 We can rejoice, too, when we run into problems and trials, for we know that they are good for us—they help us learn to be patient. 4 And patience develops strength of character in us and helps us trust God more each time we use it until finally our hope and faith are strong and steady.

Proverbs 24:10 NKJV

The Character of the believer

Believers should be compassionate

Colossians 3:12 The Living Bible
12 Since you have been chosen by God who has given you this new kind of life, and because of his deep love and concern for you, you should practice tenderhearted mercy and kindness to others. Don’t worry about making a good impression on them, but be ready to suffer quietly and patiently.
col3
Colossians 3:12 NKJV
12 Therefore, as the elect of God, holy and beloved, put on tender mercies, kindness, humility, meekness, longsuffering;

Believers should be humble

1 Peter 5:5 The Living Bible
5 You younger men, follow the leadership of those who are older. And all of you serve each other with humble spirits, for God gives special blessings to those who are humble, but sets himself against those who are proud.
HUMBLE
To destroy the wall

Philippians 4:4 NKJV

Believers should be loving

1 John 4:7 NKJV

1 John 4:7 The Living Bible
7 Dear friends, let us practice loving each other, for love comes from God and those who are loving and kind show that they are the children of God, and that they are getting to know him better.
What is love?
1 Corinthians 13:4–7 NIV
4 Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. 5 It does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. 6 Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. 7 It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres.
1cor13 4-7

Believers should be content

Philippians 4:11 NKJV
11 Not that I speak in regard to need, for I have learned in whatever state I am, to be content:
Philippians 4:11 The Living Bible
11 Not that I was ever in need, for I have learned how to get along happily whether I have much or little.

Believers should be holy

1 Peter 1:15 NKJV
15 but as He who called you is holy, you also be holy in all your conduct,
Believers are to be merciful
Believers are to be merciful
Believers are to be pure in heart

Everybody starts praying when trouble come

1. Prayer

1. Prayer

should be daily

IS THERE ANYTHING THAT YOU HAVE THAT YOU HAVE NOT RECEIVED?

1 Corinthians 4:7 NIV
7 For who makes you different from anyone else? What do you have that you did not receive? And if you did receive it, why do you boast as though you did not?

What do you have that you did not receive? And if you did receive it, why do you boast as though you did not? (:7)

JONAH LEARNED THE PROPER PLACE TO PRAISE

Problem christians run into

PROBLEM

When we in the belly - we complain and fuss
WE COMPLAIN AND DON’T PRAISE
Even in the belly I am going to give God some thanksgiving.

JONAH FISH WAS NOT PUNISHMENT, IT WAS PROTECTION

The belly was not punishment it was protection
3 For You cast me into the deep - debt, situations are way over my head
5 The waters surrounded me - drowning
5 The waters surrounded me
Weeds were wrapped around my head - just when i was about to lose my mind
Weeds were wrapped around my head
Weeds were wrapped around my head
Weeds were wrapped around my head

SOMETIMES I WONDER ABOUT PEOPLE IN PRISON

IF THEY DIDN’T LOCK ME UP I WOULD BE DEAD
IF THEY DIDN’T LOCK ME UP I WOULD HAVE LOST MY FAMILY
IF THEY DIDN’T LOCK ME UP I WOULD HAVE GOTTEN ALL KINDS OF DISEASES
LOST MY CHILDREN
LOST MY LIFE

TWO TYPES OF JONAHS

WAIT UNTIL THEY GET OUT TO PRAISE GOD
PRAISE WHEN YOU ARE IN THE BELLY
PRAISE WHEN YOU ARE IN THE BELLY

FINALLY

JONAH MADE A PROMISE TO PURSUE HIS PURPOSE

Jonah 2:9 NKJV
9 But I will sacrifice to You With the voice of thanksgiving; I will pay what I have vowed. Salvation is of the Lord.”
