Sermon Tone Analysis

Lead in to text: This letter was written to Gentile believers in Galatia who are being attacked by a group who are in opposition with the Gentile Christians and placing the law over them and not teaching the cross and grace of Christ.

Paul is show how grace is what we are under now in following Jesus.

We pick up at the closing exhortation of this letter.

Aim – Life changed is shown in a life lived more than outward appearances.

What needs to be changed is the network you are one and they will through in a new phone free.

Phone – the phone needs a cell carrier to work and a network that is reliable.

Old Network – Law working in the flesh which makes you a slave and not free.

Flesh is self-centered and enslaved to the law.

Have to keep the whole law and not be selective on what to keep.

New Network – Jesus is the cell phone carrier and Grace is the fastest network.

Intro: Cell phone companies are always searching for new clients .

The attack new clients with a new phone on their network.

However a new phone with new accessories on a bad network is just useless phone.

The phone is not the problem.

The problem is the phone needs the right network.

What needs to be changed is the network you are one and they will through in a new phone free.

What makes a phone work on the net work is their is a certain chip that has to be in the phone to connect it to the network.

This network has the best coverage, is in more areas, and never drops calls.

Old Network – Law working in the flesh which makes you a slave and not free.

DT – Circumcision is not salvation, for salvation is only found in Christ through the cross.

Aim – Life changed is shown in a life lived in the glory of the Cross and the resurrection of Christ living within us.

Boast in the right network

We boast about what we are proud of and want to celebrate.

The act of boasting is to give praise and be proud of something.

If your believe in something enough to boast about it you will tell others about this as well.

Companies are aware of this and therefore selectively give out free merchandise to companies employees to have them familiar with the product and help sell it to others.

Companies also use incentives to clients by encouraging to recruit others and giving discounts and coupons for each referral.

Some are boasting in the wrong things.

Opponents of the Gentile Christians are pressuring them to be like them.

People in the world want you to be more like them.

God has made you to be like him.

Live to boast in the Lord.

Paul sees it is totally worth it to boast in the cross.

Nothing else is worth boasting but the cross.

Because of that cross...

We boast because of what the cross means to us.

“Because of that cross, my interest in this world has been crucfied

The cross stands for the death, burial and resurrection of Jesus Christ.

The Cross represents Paul’s faith in Jesus.

The cross represents a lifestyle change for the Lord.

Cross speaks of dying to the world to live for the Lord.

Paul speaks of this change earlier in his letter to the Galatians.

We are changed because Christ has changed us.

We are dead (crucified) to the old life of sin and living in the flesh.

We are now living a life following Jesus Christ

New Phone new Network

We should see we are new in the Lord with a new take on life because the old network is dead.

We should be operating with a new chip in us that connects us to the new more powerful network.

We have the power of the Holy Spirit in us to guide us to the will of the Father in our life.

What is on the inside matters.

Just like a new phone on a new network is to work better and faster…We are to be new in Christ living better through our new connection to God the Father.

Jesus network is our relationship with God the Son that connects us to God the Father.

The new phone is our new life in Christ disconnected from the world and connected to the Spirit of God through Jesus Christ.

We need to show we have been changed from the inside.

We need to live a life transformed for the glory of the Lord.

Life lived for Christ is a life worth living.

We become something new in our life with christ.

New Creation in Christ

In Christ we are new creatures or creation.

We are made in the likeness of God and come to fulfill this likeness in Christ.

In Christ alone we find our freedom and true purpose.

Living for others or self is empty living.

galatians 6:

Paul points out that those who live for the flesh only do so to please there own selfish desires.

God’s creation can not please God living in the flesh.

We must be changed to be in his likeness and living for his will.

Their selfish living was to benefit them only and was hurting those who were truly seeking how to live for Christ.

Becareful that you are not a stumbling block for the Kingdom.

Seek to live out your life before God privately and publicly.

They are pushing others to follow the law but they are selective on what laws the follow.

They only what self glory which is vain glory.

They are not looking at grace but the law.

New Creations know grace

It is by grace we are saved and not by works.

We boast in the Lord’s might saving power in our life.

Live in new relationship in God!

galatians 6:16

Conclusion:

Show you have been changed by the blood of the lamb by how you now live for the Lord.

Live as his people in new covenant with the Lord.

Know the peace and mercy of the Lord by submitting to the will of the Spirit.

Live for the glory of the Lord.

Walk in the blessing of being new in the Lord.

Just like the pleasure of getting a new phone on a good network know the joy of being a new creature in Jesus Christ.
