Satan's Favorite Lies

Good morning. Glad that you are here.

Glad you come or Direction. It's good place to be on a Sunday morning. If you were in class this morning, we talked about creation, which was very good. I enjoyed it very much today. We start a a new series of lessons for a few weeks on on Satan and monster. I would love nothing more than for you to leave here realizing that Satan is not a little guy in a red suit with a pitchfork a couple of horns that sits on your shoulder. Occasionally. I would love for you to see him as the Bible actually displays him is pretty much a monster and we can talk a little bit about that and I don't even use kind of a spooky background there, you know and my first thought and as I was getting all that ready with me, and I hope that little kids can handle that right?

Someone will open their eyes a little bit and go up to no good and he is horrible and he is terrible and we're going to talk about him for the next couple 3 weeks that you don't we talk about Satan is yucky. And I mean, it's not fun topic and it's not. I mean, I hope I get to talk about Satan today. It's just not one of those things. It's fun. But eating good soldier any good General will tell you you better know what your enemies up to if you're going to go in the bath. So you better have an idea what kind of skill set the enemy has because if you don't you're going to get whipped you're going to get killed. Football coaches go in in a watch place of Epsom team coming in this week because they want to know what are they bringing? What are they coming up with when we as Christians sit down we're going to go have we need to know what Satan's throwing at us. We need to have an idea of what he's getting at because he's got a pretty good skill set to get Christians. If you don't believe it look around and see what's going on in our country look at families and see how they're hurting today looking individuals and see how they're struggling today. Satan does a good job. He is a monster and we need to see him as such and we're going to talk a little bit today about some of his lies the way he lies to us the way he tricks us some of the things he uses on you to get you to buy end of what his schemes are and what his plans are. We can talk a little bit about some of those things. The verse that was read a little while ago. I drew read John chapter 10 verse 10. The thief as Satan comes to steal kill and destroy. Jesus is I've come to give you life and I want to give it to you abundantly, but he says the thief is what comes to steal and kill and destroy Satan would love nothing more than to kill your whole. To steal your joy to kill your relationships. You would love nothing more than to physically and spiritually murder you That is a monster. That's out there. That's the way that the Bible is going to describe him. He wants to destroy your children your life. We need to know what he's up to. And so we're going to talk a little bit this morning about how he uses us to buy into his lies. I do this or if I was in this power I do that for I like the I like the Fiddler on the Roof when they said dear Lord you made many many poor people and I realize of course there is no shame in being poor. But there's no honor either and he says so what would have been so terrible if you could have just blessed me with a small fortune. And then he starts singing If I Were a Rich Man, I'm not going to send that to you this morning, but I suck it in my head all warning thinking about that. So what would it be? Like if you can put yourself if I could put myself in Satan's shoes this morning and go what would I do? to get people to buy into my skin so that I could pretty much take as many of them to hell with me as possible. So if you pick out a hand out this morning, I've got about four of those in there that we don't talk about as we go through and you still in your blanks as we go some of the blanks you may not have on this line. I'll give them to you as we go the number one. If I was Satan one of the things that you got understand he's going to do is I would get you to deny my existence. Satan loves for you to go really isn't out there and he really can't get me Satan really isn't all that he is made up to up to be deny his existence and that makes him happy is a real person. He is a real person a real figure the Bible speaks of him. Let me see some of the words the Bible uses. These are blanks on your hand out. If you're following along the Bible calls him a roaring lion in 1st Peter chapter 5 a roaring lion seeking whom he may devour. He would love nothing more than to rip folks to shreds a roaring lion. And you think about it you're as described in the Bible sheep. Satan is described as a roaring lion. And nothing would make him happier than eating the Sheep the. The Bible describes him as the angel of Light 2nd Corinthians chapter 11 verse 14. angel of Light meaning

He's a monster. And he uses whatever schemes he can come up with to trick you Genesis chapter three calls him a serpent. In fact on our texts, what we were talking about. If you had a chance to read it earlier in the week. I said we talked about it a little bit Genesis Chapter 3 The Bible the first word ever used to describe the Satan in the Bible is the word crafty and and the serpent was more crafty Satan was more crafty than anything else that there was some translations will say Satan was more deceitful. I don't know about you, but the word crack in the word deceitful are not words that I really like. In fact, I don't like people that are described by those words. We don't like hanging out with deceitful people Dewey you don't do business with crafty deceitful people. Those are the people you avoid. Hey call my brother-in-law. He'll help you find his car a car. His name is Crafty Eddie and he is the guy you need to call you, right?

The first word used to describe Satan is Crafty deceitful. And yet we don't take him serious. He is a real person. He's a roaring lion. Is an angel of Light he is an old serpent. The Bible says that means he's been around a long time and he knows his stuff serpent snake. You're weird that right. I just say it that way. I think it's interesting that God has used serpent as the the animal to say this is what Satan is like. Nobody ever looks out and goes my sweet snake. They're all crafty. They're all deceitful. Bible also says he is the accuser of Brethren of the Brethren that's in the Book of Revelation. Satan is described as the accuser of the Brethren and then the scene is described if you're shaking and you know what he's doing he is in heaven. He is standing there having the courtroom and he is telling God everything that you have ever done. In your whole life. He's a big tattletale. Nobody likes tattletales and he isn't out of hell and he's not just saying. Hey, I thought yesterday he's not saying do you know what trait said yesterday when you got a little mad and at that driver that pulled out in front of him. Do you know why he's also he's chief of all why he's a liar. And here we are. He's standing before God telling got all kinds of lies about you if that's not a monster if that doesn't make you mad I hate it when people lie about me. Satan stands before God right now lying about you are you going to do about that? We talked a little bit about that next week? Okay, because we have somebody named Jesus. It helps us understand Satan the monster. He's horrible. He's a real purpose person. He also has a real purpose. You know, what his purpose is we read about it. The thief comes to steal kill and destroy Satan's job. His purpose in this world is to rob you of your peace your joy your spiritual inheritance. He has to rob you of your health your happiness your finances. He has come to kill you in every form and fashion. He is a monster that is his purpose.

And that should make you mad. That should give you a real idea of what this guy's like. He's not a guy you should like the Book of James says Lie from Satan or if you will flee from Satan say leave you alone if you give up. Me you don't want to hang out with this guy. You don't want to run around with a guy like this is not a guy that you want to get around with any form or fashion. Just away from him. He's got a real purpose in this to hurt you. When out of paper route when I was about 14 years old, I used to deliver papers and throw them on porches in one of the houses that I delivered to had a big dog and the dog was in the house and I'd make sure the paper. Right up by the door because I really wanted him to bark and be aggravated open mama was out to working in the flower bed or something and I knew I knew I had two limitations long as that rope would go I was going to be all right. I can throw that paper over that dog, but don't get too close to the dog was going to get you I got just a little too close. I thought it was kind of fun because I thought maybe I can get so far and it would yank his neck and head pool, you know and nipped the back of my fire which was really my own fault. But it taught me a lesson that sometimes when you come play with fire, you're going to get burnt when you still around with an old dog that wants to eat if you hang out with Satan and think he's not a real person. He's not going to hurt. You probably are more susceptible to his schemes at that time and any other time. Because his purpose is to get you. We take a lot of things happen in this world and you know what we do we often times. We often times give God credit for that and I use that word credit because I want you understand. What you doing met a guy while back. He said I'm really frustrated with God. I would God let this happen. Why would God do this to her? And I understand he was confused. It's time we had a good visit. I didn't make in that little girl sick. Satan loves every drop of it. We can credit to the wrong person to you and your family and to your children and to your marriage. He would love to do that. He also has a real power. in the book of Ephesians in chapter 6 we find out verse 12 that the Bible tells us that there is a spiritual power that we actually can't see spiritual forces out there that are doing battle behind the curtains. I wonder sometimes if somehow or another our spiritual eyes were open when we could see what was going on out there between good and bad if we would not be shocked if not frightens.

She has power.

In for a long time Satan has had power over people. Today people falling all the time. Through a lot of people that fall into don't know this. I just don't follow Jesus in Jesus says if you don't follow me you follow Satan.

And Satan's got people to buy into that. Second thing is Satan loves to attack you at your weakness. If I were Satan if I was looking for a way to get you I would attack you at your weakness. Whatever that weakness is my weakness in your weakness is two different things. And so just like fishing, you know, when you go fishing in Texas out here on some place looking for some some bass or probably use a worm of some kind or some kind of fishing bait you take off and you go fishing somewhere else and you go fishing in the mountains for some trout. You were not going to use that same kind of bait to catch one fish at you do another Satan knows exactly what you like and he's going to use that bait to try to get you to buy in at whatever weakness that is that you have for Summit maybe money and maybe the fact that you may not have any or it may be the fact that you have a whole lot and you think I'm really nice because I pretty much can take care of myself. It may be lost.

sexual lust maybe lust for power maybe lust or what somebody else has maybe less for food. agreed when your whole mindset is all I can think about when I get up and go to bed is how I can get more this or how I can get a new car. I can, I can get that job or how I can get the house.

Call greed Satan uses your emotions when you are dominated and controlled by your emotions. What does that mean? Dominated at everything about you that that your emotions control who you are when you hear people go out man, when I lose my temper, I just lose control. Satan in all of you

You are dominated and controlled. God made you to be self-control. Meaning. God made you to be a person as a Christian who is control of themselves. Do not allow your emotions.

To be used against you by Satan weather. That is anger. Weather that is bitterness weather that is resentment. Maybe it's fear. You scared all the time. I can sleep at night. There's so many bad things going on in this world. Satan's having a great time with you worry. unforgiveness Satan loves on forgiveness Because God tells us we're supposed to forgive Satan says.

They didn't actually apologize. They don't care. Hold on to that garage.

Stay matte app. He uses all kinds of emotions and all kinds of things against us. He knows what it is. He uses those things against us number three. Satan attacks us attacks the word of God our say not attacked the word of God.

Genesis chapter 3 the very first thing to Satan said when he showed up with Adam and even what it was, he asked Eve and Adam was standing right there as well really say that you can eat from the tree that's in the middle of the garden. The very first thing he did was attack God's word. He still does it today? Did you really say you can't do this to God really say that you can't have sex before marriage everybody. Did God really say that cheating? Is that big a deal everybody does everybody tells a white lie every now and then I still got really say don't steal at work at that place. And you know, they don't I don't think they pay me enough if I use some of the company's business whatever it is. Does it really say I can't do that?

Satan work hard to attack God's word in the things that he has told us we should and should not do the Satan really say sin will keep me out of heaven. the scariest words in the Bible depart from me for I never knew you. the scariest words in the Bible It'll be people who probably say things. I did not really say that. chasing the monster close the number for I was saving I'm actually use this point before if I was Satan. I would convince the whole world to Simply wait. Explain what that means? There's an old story. I don't know who wrote it years and years. Go. No story about a meeting that took place in hell. Call the three smartest little demons in we've got to figure out a way to deceive people on Earth so that we can bring as many of them here as we can. Help me come up with an idea. Help me come up with a plan. The first one said I've got just the perfect idea. Let's go down and tell her by Jesus was really not. You really wouldn't God's son. I mean, he's a good man. He's a prophet who showed up. He talked some stuff. It really wouldn't got some say that's not a good plan. What's wrong anymore? What's real? What is it will tell him that the Bible is unreliable and you shouldn't be reading it. You shouldn't be following any more. You know, that's God's word and we got to figure out a better plan. Third one comes along all he was crafty. He said I know it was let's go down to the Earth and let's tell the whole world that Jesus is the son of God Jesus Savior of the world. It's his message to people and it people need to read it and if people need to take it serious But just not right now.

Tell him that it's all right for them to wait a little longer. there in junior high school

college someday when I get married view then I'm going to start taking God's word serious. I would I have kids when I get a job or when we retire and things settle down and kids are so busy. Then we'll start doing the church thing and we'll start getting serious about our faith.

Just get people to wait. Satan said, I love it. And he's been using that scheme for years and years and years. And there are people every week every day that go someday. I'm going to get my life toward some day. I'm serious about my faith. Someday. I'm going to take God's word serious. And Satan goes as long as they say someday they still on our side. As long as they say I'll wait till later. We still got them with us. Quite possibly Satan's greatest schemes telling folks just wait until later.

Get your life straightened out. There will always be another opportunity.

Satan is a monster. He's been telling these lies forever and ever. He's been stealing joy and peace. I don't know about you, but I like you in peace. I want them in my life. I don't want it by stealing them from me. I'm mad at Satan. I want to go away. I want him to leave me Family Friends. church family alone But it's not going to happen until we see him for who he really is. He's not a guy in a little red suit. Is monster and you better know what it's schemes are because he's going to do all that he can to get you. Next week. We'll talk a little bit more about what he does and Jesus's response to that and what are we?

But I want to challenge you look around this week watch four ways in which Satan is trying to get you cuz he will this week things are going to happen and you're going to go well in that convenient that that happened in Satan's like yeah, I threw that out there. That's my little lower at the end of my fishing line and I'm hoping you'll buy it and you can just simply say I'm not buying into this today Satan. A co-worker a kid a spouse whoever it is somebody somebody that just really gets on your nerves is going to walk in your world. They're going to say something and you're going to want to bite back and you're going to want to chew on them and you're going to want to let him have a little piece of your mind and Satan going to go do it.

And I need you to stop and go. I'm not going to have any of that. I'm not going to do that Satan. I'm not going to buy any your skin because he's going to do things all week long. To get you just a little bit to use those emotions and those things in your world. Every Sunday after our sermon we offer an invitation, where do it again today? If you're here we pray for you. We happy to Satan. Maybe just working you over and you want some prayers for strength. I find it interesting find it interesting that one of the things that Jesus said to pray in the Lord's Prayer was keep me from temptation. maybe something we need to pray more often if you'd like for us to
