As a beginning driver for an interstate trucking company, I made several unusually tiring trips with an older driver. Although this man was more than twice my age, he seemed to thrive on the long hours. After one such trip, we had a cup of coffee together, and I mentioned that he looked as if he had spent the day sitting on his front porch. I asked if he would share his secret. “It’s all in your attitude son,” he replied. “Whereas you ‘went to work’ this morning, I ‘went for a ride in the country’”
