IT’S IMPOSSIBLE TO HIDE OR, RUN FROM GOD!
I remember a time when I was around 10 years old.
My mother was driving my nephew and myself to the store in and old red Oldsmobile station wagon.
My nephew and I was misbehaving and my mother told us if we don’t stop, then she’s going to pull the care over and whip our butts!
While we didn’t believe her, because she had said it before and didn’t pull the car over, We didn’t stop and she pulled the car over.
The great thing about a station wagon is the size.
You can literally jump over the seats, back and forth very easily and not get caught by your mother.
There’s just one problem.
You Can’t Hide or, run from MOTHER, and she’s never forgets.
This morning I want to talk about three Bible characters who tried to hide, or run from God.
If you have your Bibles!
:
I. Adam and Eve.
The first humans on the earth.
They didn’t come from a monkey,
Adam was very intelligent,
: 19-20
He had a vocabulary out of this world.
Adam and Eve, wasn’t smart enough to obey God.
They disobeyed God.
Then tried to hide from God.
We do that now when we sin.
We try to hide from God.
It is impossible to Hide from God!
II.
Jonah
There is a story I like to tell every time I talk about Jonah, some of you have heard it before, but I’m going to tell it again.
A little girl was talking to her teacher about whales and how she had heard in Sunday School about how a whale had shallowed Jonah.
The teacher said it was physically impossible for a whale to swallow a human because even though it was a very large mammal its throat was very small.
The little girl remained steadfast in her position and reiterated that indeed, a whale had swallowed Jonah.
Irritated, the teacher again stated that a whale could not swallow a human; it was physically impossible.
The little girl said, I’m not sure how it happened, but when I get to heaven.
I will ask Jonah.
The teacher replied smugly, What if Jonah isn’t in heaven?
The little girl replied, Then you ask him.
Jonah 1
Jonah was a prophet.
Jonah is an example of a person God called for a specific ministry.
Jonah is an example of what a called Christian does when that ministry doesn’t fit what we want.

Hide
Jonah hated the Ninevites
