Scripture Reading:
Opening Prayer
Introduction
Story about telling twins apart

Big Idea: True kingdom citizens are identified by their love towards Jesus’ brothers

What does love towards Jesus brother’s looks like? and what it does it not look like?
Today’s text gives 3 answers to these questions.
Exposition 1
Matthew 25:31 ESV
“When the Son of Man comes in his glory, and all the angels with him, then he will sit on his glorious throne.
Remember context (Olivet Discourse)
Matthew 24:3 ESV
As he sat on the Mount of Olives, the disciples came to him privately, saying, “Tell us, when will these things be, and what will be the sign of your coming and of the end of the age?”
Referencing Zechariah 15:5
Zechariah 14:5 ESV
And you shall flee to the valley of my mountains, for the valley of the mountains shall reach to Azal. And you shall flee as you fled from the earthquake in the days of Uzziah king of Judah. Then the Lord my God will come, and all the holy ones with him.
Notice “Son of Man” substituted for “the Lord my God”
He is sitting on His throne as Judge and King
Matthew 25:32 ESV
Before him will be gathered all the nations, and he will separate people one from another as a shepherd separates the sheep from the goats.
Matthew 25:33 ESV

Matthew 25:35 ESV
For I was hungry and you gave me food, I was thirsty and you gave me drink, I was a stranger and you welcomed me,
Matthew 25:36 ESV
I was naked and you clothed me, I was sick and you visited me, I was in prison and you came to me.’
Matthew 25:37 ESV
Then the righteous will answer him, saying, ‘Lord, when did we see you hungry and feed you, or thirsty and give you drink?
Matthew 25:38 ESV
And when did we see you a stranger and welcome you, or naked and clothe you?
5:3
Matthew 25:39 ESV
And when did we see you sick or in prison and visit you?’
Matthew 25:40 ESV
And the King will answer them, ‘Truly, I say to you, as you did it to one of the least of these my brothers, you did it to me.’
