What do you really know about God

I want to ask you a question.

Who is God to you?

Hand out paper/ read answers

Have you ever asked yourself?

1.  Why am I here?

2.                        What’s my purpose?

3.What does God have planned for me?

In order to answer those questions we need to look at 3 words.

1.  Obedience

2.            Invitation

3.      Salvation

Tell personal story about wrestling

It all start’s with obedience.

Obedience is an outward expression of your love for God. The only way to achieve obedience is from absolute faith and trust in Him. Only as you start to obey Him can you truly experience Him at work in and through your life.

Obedience is:

a)            The path to life as God created it.

b)           The only way to join God in His work and experience Him.

c)Obedience is the only life style that we can expect God to reveal Himself. / Supernatural things happen to people who obey God.

1 John 2:3-6

We know that we have come to know him if we obey his commands. 4 The man who says, “I know him,” but does not do what he commands is a liar, and the truth is not in him. 5 But if anyone obeys his word, God’s love is truly made complete in him. This is how we know we are in him: 6 Whoever claims to live in him must walk as Jesus did.

Can you name some people in the bible who were obedient- Noah, Abraham, Joseph, David, Daniel, Job, Jonah The wise men etc.

With out obedience a relationship with God will not happen.

Matthew 7:22-23

22 Many will say to me on that day, ‘Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in your name, and in your name drive out demons and perform many miracles?’ 23 Then I will tell them plainly, ‘I never knew you. Away from me, you evildoers!’

You might go to church , even hang out with the youth,  I worship God.

But worship is a part of obedience,  it can not replace it.

Let’s look at Invitation;

It is Gods call to you to love Him with all your heart and all your soul, It His call to you to join Him to carry out His mission in the world. As God offers His invitation to you He starts revealing Himself to you, His names, His purpose and His ways to you in a personal relationship.

No God’s invitation leads to a crisis of belief. See Once you express your faith in Him, you must act. For faith requires a major life adjustment.

You can not continue life as usual of staying where you are and go with God at the same time.----Your life should reflect total surrender and dependence on God/

2 Corinthians 5:17

7     Therefore if anyone is in Christ, he is  a new creature; the old things passed away; behold, new things have come.

Invitations means:

a)    God loves you and wants to direct your lives in the path that He created for you.

b)   God wants you to join Him in.

c)    God will show you more about Himself as you accept and obey His invitation.

God calls His people to reach out to the lost as He brings a spiritual awakening to the world.

Finally

Salvation:  When God acts to deliver a person or nation from harm or danger.

1.Salvation means defeating the enemy.

2.Salvation means bringing about absolute change to the one saved.

3.  Makes Jesus Lord and Savior of your life.

4. Gives you eternal life.

In the book the Purpose Driven Life the author writes “Even before the universe was created God had you in mind and he planned you for His purpose.

Jeremiah 17:7-8

7     “But blessed is the man who trusts in the Lord,

whose confidence is in him.

8     He will be like a tree planted by the water

that sends out its roots by the stream.

It does not fear when heat comes;

its leaves are always green.

It has no worries in a year of drought

and never fails to bear fruit.”

Mark 16:15

5 He said to them, “Go into all the world and preach the good news to all creation.

Matthew 28:19-20

9 Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, 20 and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.”

So let God transform your life, let Him make you a new person.

Are you ready to make a difference in your schools and in your friend’s lives, All it takes is just one step and I’ll come to you. I’ll pray with you and God will do the rest.
