Distinguished the Righteous and the wicked.
The key aspect being that the righteous loves God’s law, and the wicked do not.
As a result, the righteous have endurance to the end, the wicked do not.

The End of the Wicked
-Therefore:
there’s no stability, not lasting security for the wicked.
-Will not stand in the Judgment
God will bring everything into account
For God will bring every deed into judgment, with every secret thing, whether good or evil.
God’s Justice will be serve, but right!
But you, you are to be feared! Who can stand before you when once your anger is roused?
It appears the opposite, that the wicked prosper and are secure.
until I went into the sanctuary of God; then I discerned their end.
-Sinners in the congregation of the righteous
We will judge with him the wicked
It was also about these that Enoch, the seventh from Adam, prophesied, saying, “Behold, the Lord comes with ten thousands of his holy ones, to execute judgment on all and to convict all the ungodly of all their deeds of ungodliness that they have committed in such an ungodly way, and of all the harsh things that ungodly sinners have spoken against him.”
Or do you not know that the saints will judge the world? And if the world is to be judged by you, are you incompetent to try trivial cases?
The Wicked Will Not be in Heaven
This is evidence of the righteous judgment of God, that you may be considered worthy of the kingdom of God, for which you are also suffering— since indeed God considers it just to repay with affliction those who afflict you, and to grant relief to you who are afflicted as well as to us, when the Lord Jesus is revealed from heaven with his mighty angels in flaming fire, inflicting vengeance on those who do not know God and on those who do not obey the gospel of our Lord Jesus. They will suffer the punishment of eternal destruction, away from the presence of the Lord and from the glory of his might,
Men don’t need saving from circumstances, but from God himself.
-This is consistent with the Gospel.

The ESV Study Bible Chapter 1
“knows with affection and approval, i.e., prefers”
It’s more than mere knowing about, that’s also true of the wicked.
Examples:
Abraham
For I have chosen him, that he may command his children and his household after him to keep the way of the Lord by doing righteousness and justice, so that the Lord may bring to Abraham what he has promised him.”
Israel
“You only have I known of all the families of the earth; therefore I will punish you for all your iniquities.
Jeremiah
But you, O Lord, know me; you see me, and test my heart toward you. Pull them out like sheep for the slaughter, and set them apart for the day of slaughter.
I am the good shepherd. I know my own and my own know me,
It’s connected with foreknowledge in the NT
For those whom he foreknew he also predestined to be conformed to the image of his Son, in order that he might be the firstborn among many brothers.
Romans 8:
God has not rejected his people whom he foreknew. Do you not know what the Scripture says of Elijah, how he appeals to God against Israel?
God is the root cause of all their success, his divine love and favor.
