Of Jews and Gentiles

Personal Observations:
v. 11-12, THEREFORE (in light of the good news of our identity in Christ, as bound in His sovereignty over everything the Father has given Him), you Gentiles were once separate from Christ
v. 11-22, this passage seems to insinuate tension that had existed between the Christian Jews and Christian Gentiles. What’s more is that Paul associates their past as something relevant to their identity in Christ (remember that you were excluded from the commonwealth of Israel, strangers to the covenants of promise)
v. 12-13, Paul reiterates the contrast of identity between the bad news and the good news of Christianity
v. 14-18, Christ unites Christians, He does not divide them; oneness is an important theme in Christianity, as Paul puts it in ,
4 There is one body and one Spirit, just as also you were called in one hope of your calling;
5 one Lord, one faith, one baptism,
6 one God and Father of all who is over all and through all and in all.
New American Standard Bible: 1995 update. (1995). (). La Habra, CA: The Lockman Foundation.
v. 19-22, essentially, in light of their identity as a people separated from God and the covenants of God, they have been reconciled with not only to God, but God’s people. Their new identity places them in a household built on the foundation of God’s messengers and prophets, with Christ as the cornerstone. These believers, us included, are being built together into a dwelling place for God.
What does it mean to be a dwelling place for the Holy Spirit?
