THE SPIRIT OF GENERSOITY

After telling this story, Jesus went on toward Jerusalem, walking ahead of His disciples.

As He came to the towns of Bethphage and Bethany on the Mount of Olives, He sent two disciples ahead.

"Go into that village over there," He told them. "As you enter it, you will see a young donkey tied there that no one has ever ridden. Untie it and bring it here.

If anyone asks, 'Why are you untying that colt?' just say, 'The Lord needs it.'"

INTRODUCTION

Well, good evening, Southpointe!! I know you mostly likely was not except me to be preaching a sermon tonight, but I want to share for around 10 to 15 minutes tonight.

These scriptures may seem to be one of the most unusual text and this may be one of the strange message you have heard.

But I believe that this is the key to all human relationships. I believe this will solve your marriage problems, it will solve your relationship with God. It will solve relationships between the pastors and congregations.

So here we go: I think you all know the story, Jesus is getting ready to go triumphantly and enter into this city. Jesus tells His disciples, I want you to go ahead of me in the village.

Now the important for you to remember tonight, Jesus had been to this village before, it was at this village that Jesus had cast out the demon here, Jesus raised Lazarus from the dead.

It was in that village that Jesus had performed many great wonderful signs and wonders.

So Jesus said to His disciples, I want you to go ahead of me and you will find a colt, the colt of a donkey that is tied and without asking anyone anything, you go and untie the colt of a donkey and bring him to me.

If anyone says anything to you, just say to them, God needs it and walk off with it.

Does this kinda make you concern here?

Let me put this in today term: This guy has a brand new Chev truck you know kinda like Steve brand new black chev truck.

Steve has parked his truck in the drive away and Lee Bell over at Steve visiting and they are discussing what a beautiful truck that is and all fancy tech on it.

I mean this is Steve’s dream truck.

Some of you are pastor this is not in the Bible, yes it is some of you need to read your bible.

The donkey in the bible is a vehicle of transportation and he has no miles on him. the Bible said, upon never a man sat.

Now stay with me, Jake and Lee comes walking down the street and they come up start looking at Steve’s truck. Steve and Lee watching them Lee tells Steve them guys are looking at your truck.

And Steve said, It’s of those are them Assemblies of God broke ministers just let them look. And then the motor start up and Lee said they are leaving in your truck.

Steve scream at them and say, What are you doing?

Jake and Lee loud back God has need for it!!

Now here the option: Steve and Lee can break out the guns or they can call 911.

Or they can let them go.

Now I am tell you Steve just say O.K. that is fine take it and go.

Now listen this is the story. Two guys walk up to their driveway and they get Steve prized possession. I mean the possession that Steve and Emily worked hard earn their money and you know this is their means of transportation and the only comment from them is The Lord has need of it.

There must be more to the story. Maybe this the man that Jesus delivered from the devils when He was there years ago, or maybe it was the man that was watching as Jesus called Lazarus out of the grave.

this man may was gratefully to Jesus who set him free and he just looked and say I love you. You set me free, I am never going back to that again I am free.

you see, when you come into a relationship with Jesus Christ we all come saying All to Jesus I surrender all to Him I free give.

But the problem with many is as they receive the blessings of God, our standing has changed.

I want you to understand there is going to be a moment in your life when you are going to be summoned to a new level of discipleship.

A moment when you hear God say to you. The Master has need of you.

God has blessed you and raised you up. Once you were blind but now you can see.

You may had been rich but there was no peace and there was no joy, there was no security but now there is.

You may have been tortured by demons of alcohol and lust, homosexuality, drugs, you were blind and possessed by sin but God set you free.

And at that moment, you said, Lord, there is nothing I wouldn’t do for you.

But now God has blessed you and prospered you and you tonight are going to be challenge to enter into a new level of discipleship. Because tonight The Lord has need of what you have.

I know many are thinking that I am dealing with tithing but this story is about something altogether beyond tithing, it is something beyond the law. It is not about the law, it is not about tithing. This is about release of the spirit of generosity.

I believe this is one of the things that hinders relationships, our relationship with God, our relationship with one another.

A withholding stingy spirit is contrary to the nature and the character of God and the character and nature of the gospel we say we believe.

the bible said whatever you measure out to others will measured back to you.

I have come to believe that the ingredient that makes it heaven on earth is generosity.

Give freely and become more wealthy; be stingy and lose everything.

The generous will prosper; those who refresh others will themselves be refreshed.
