Obituary of Brother Someone Else.

Our church was saddened to learn this week of the death of one of our most valued members, Bro. Someone Else.

Bro. Someone’s passing creates a vacancy that will be difficult to fill. Bro. Someone Else has been with us for many years, Bro. Someone Else did far more than a normal person’s share of work.

Whenever there was a job to do, a class to teach, or a meeting to attend, one name was on everyone’s list, “Let Bro. Someone Else do it.”

Whenever leadership was mentioned, this wonderful person was looked to for inspiration as well as results, “Bro. Someone Else can work with that group.”

It was common knowledge that Bro. Someone Else was among the most liberal givers in the church.

Whenever there was a financial need, everyone just assumed Bro. Someone Else would make up the difference.

Bro. Someone Else was a wonderful person, sometimes appearing superhuman. Where the truth be known, everybody expected too much of Bro. Someone Else.

Now Bro. Someone Else is gone! We wonder what we are going to do. Bro. Someone Else left a wonderful example to follow, but who is going to follow it? Who is going to do the things Bro. Someone Else did?

When you are asked to help this year, remember we can’t depend on Bro. Someone Else anymore.

We are a Baptist Church.

Not only a Baptist Church, we are an Independent Baptist Church.

Not only are we a Independent Baptist Church, we are a Gospel Preaching Independent Baptist Church.

The Death,

Burial

Resurrection of Jesus Christ.

Not only are we a Gospel Preaching Independent Baptist Church, we are a King James 1611 Gospel Preaching Independent Bible Preaching Church.

We are a Small Church, with a Big Heart.

But, I feel we are on the Lukewarm Side.

We straddle the fence as a church.

I already know what your THINKING.

“I dare you say that to me.”

“I’m doing everything I can to help this church grow.”

Are You?

Last week I had a gentleman come to the church,

I was working on the Wednesday Night lesson,

He walked in and said, “I didn’t know there was a church in this building.”

He seen our sign out from, see the light on in the church and me walking around, and decided to investigate.

He’s not the only person that doesn’t know about us.

During visitation, I have had others tell me that.

People I talk too at Walmart, Gas Stations, and Restaurants.

They all say the same thing.

I didn’t know there was a church there!

We are not doing enough to get our message out.

So, we are not doing our job.

I’m in that group to.

I’m not doing enough to get the word out.

I’m not dedicated like I should be.

What about you.

Can you do more.

III. Do y’all Feel We Are Doing Enough?

Can you tell me that your giving 110% to the Lord?

Be honest with your self.

Because God knows your Heart,

If your heart is not in it, You will not be blessed

Your heart has to be in it.

You have to have the right heart to see people saved.

God knows your Thoughts,

If you are doing God’s work, with bad, or evil thoughts, You will not be blessed.

If your thinking, while I really don’t want to do this.

Then don’t

Just remember you will give an account of your thoughts to the Lord.

God know your Intentions.

If your doing things for God, with the wrong intentions, You will not be blessed for your Works.

Do God’s work with the right intentions

We all will stand before the Judgment Seat of Christ.

A. You want our church to grow?

Then get off the couch, and start visiting people.

Most of us want to lye on the couch and watch T.V.

Most of us want to lye on the couch and play a video game.

Most of us want to lye on the couch and play on our cell phones.

You know Facebook,

Internet,

Texting,

A church cannot grow if its members, can’t get off the couch and visit people.

I cannot do it alone.

We have enough seat for up to 100 people.

B. You can’t lead people to the Lord, if your not visiting, witnessing, and bring them to church.

Get off the couch and start witnessing to them,

Get off the couch and start inviting them to church,

Start acting like a Christian, and stop living like the world.

There is a word for that and it’s (SEPARATION)

YOU CAN’T LEAD PEOPLE TO THE LORD, IF YOU LIVE LIKE THE DEVIL!

e. We all live like the world

We are all guilty of it.

We love the things of the world.

That’s why it’s so, hard to separate from it.

That’s why we refrain from doing God’s work.

C. You want visitors to come back?

Get off your pew and go welcome them.

Shake their hand

Get their name,

Get their phone number,

See if they have a Facebook page, and befriend them.

Help the pastor and have them fill out a visitor card.

No one wants to come to a stuck up Baptist Church

Remember the name of this church “FRIENDSHIP”

We have Discipleship every Sunday morning at 10:00 am.

You say, “I just can’t get up.”

You can get up to go hunting or fishing in the morning.

You can get up to go to work.

Get out of bed and come to church.

We have Morning Worship every Sunday morning at 11:00 am

I just can’t make it, I’m just too tired.

You wasn’t too tired to go partying Saturday night.

What if Jesus Christ was too tired to die on the cross for us and changed His mind?

Where would we be?

We have Wednesday Night Bible Study, Every Wednesday Night at 7:00 pm

We have

Thursday Morning Visitation at 10:30 am

Joy every 2nd and 4th Tuesday at 10:30 am

Band of Brothers the first Saturday of the month at 6:30 pm

Ladies Bible Study the second Saturday of the month at 10:30 am

Christian Karaoke Night the last Saturday of the month at 6:30 am

IV. What Are People Looking For When They Walk Through Our Door?

They are looking for a friendly church.

They are looking at our cleanliness.

They are looking at what we have to offer.

They are looking at are services.

Are they organized.

Do they start on time

The music

Is everyone singing, or are they just playing around.

They are looking at distractions during the service.

They are looking at the preacher.

Types of messages he delivers

The Bible he uses when he preach’s from.

The messages he delivers to the congregation.

V. What’s Are Job, As A Christian?

We are servants of the Lord.

We are Ambassadors of the Lord.

Do you know what an Ambassador is?

An Ambassador - is a diplomat sent by a country as its official representative.

2 Corinthians

20 Now then we are ambassadors for Christ, as though God did beseech you by us: we pray you in Christ’s stead, be ye reconciled to God.

The apostle Paul was telling the church at Corinth that we are Ambassadors for Jesus Christ.

That we represent the Kingdom of Heaven.

WE REPRESENT THE LORD.

WE NEED TO START ACTING LIKE WE ARE CHRISTIAN’S.
