Why it is important to gain a heart of wisdom?

A big contrast of God and Man

God is Eternal. Life is temporal

-GOD-
Psalm 90:1–2 NKJV
1 Lord, You have been our dwelling place in all generations. 2 Before the mountains were brought forth, Or ever You had formed the earth and the world, Even from everlasting to everlasting, You are God.
-MAN-
Psalm 90:1 NKJV
1 Lord, You have been our dwelling place in all generations.
Psalm 90:5–6 NKJV
5 You carry them away like a flood; They are like a sleep. In the morning they are like grass which grows up: 6 In the morning it flourishes and grows up; In the evening it is cut down and withers.
Psalm 90:10 NKJV
10 The days of our lives are seventy years; And if by reason of strength they are eighty years, Yet their boast is only labor and sorrow; For it is soon cut off, and we fly away.

God is Holy. Man is a sinner

Psalm 90:8 NKJV
8 You have set our iniquities before You, Our secret sins in the light of Your countenance.

Why it is important to gain a heart of wisdom?

God’s nature: Eternal

God is eternal.

Life is temporal. Man is a sinnMan is accountable before God for his sins and iniquities.
1 Peter 1:6 NKJV

Man is accountable before God for his sins and iniquities.

How to gain a heart of wisdom?

Man’s Petition: Satisfaction

Satisfaction for mercy

Psalm 90:13 NKJV
13 Return, O Lord! How long? And have compassion on Your servants.

A Petition: Satisfaction

Satisfaction for mercy

Acknowledging for mercy means acknowledging that we need God. Longing for God (in verse 13)
Without God’s mercy we cannot find genuine joy in our life.
Satisfaction for mercy is a need that we need to experience, for apart from God’s grace and mercy we are doomed.

A Petition: Vessel

A Petition to become a usable vessel of God
Let your work appear to Your servants
Let the beauty of the LORD our God be upon us
1 Corinthians 3:12–13 NKJV
12 Now if anyone builds on this foundation with gold, silver, precious stones, wood, hay, straw, 13 each one’s work will become clear; for the Day will declare it, because it will be revealed by fire; and the fire will test each one’s work, of what sort it is.

To be a vessel of God’s work

(16. thy work—or, providential acts.)
Jamieson, R., Fausset, A. R., & Brown, D. (1997). Commentary Critical and Explanatory on the Whole Bible (Vol. 1, p. 374). Oak Harbor, WA: Logos Research Systems, Inc.
Psalm 90:16 NKJV
16 Let Your work appear to Your servants, And Your glory to their children.
Psalm 90:
Divine providence is the governance of God by which He, with wisdom and love, cares for and directs all things in the universe. The doctrine of divine providence asserts that God is in complete control of all things. He is sovereign over the universe as a whole (), the physical world (), the affairs of nations (), human destiny (), human successes and failures (), and the protection of His people (). This doctrine stands in direct opposition to the idea that the universe is governed by chance or fate.
Through divine providence God accomplishes His will. To ensure that His purposes are fulfilled, God governs the affairs of men and works through the natural order of things. The laws of nature are nothing more than God’s work in the universe. The laws of nature have no inherent power; rather, they are the principles that God set in place to govern how things normally work. They are only “laws” because God decreed them.

To be a vessel of God’s beauty

To be a Potter of God’s glory

Psalm 90:17 NKJV
17 And let the beauty of the Lord our God be upon us, And establish the work of our hands for us; Yes, establish the work of our hands.
Moses begun his prayer by recognizing the nature of God he worship. God is eternal. (v. 1-2)

let the beauty—or sum of His gracious acts, in their harmony, be illustrated in us, and favor our enterprise.

In verse 3-6 Moses speak about the nature of man. Man’s life is limited and short.
In verse 7-12 Moses speak about the broken relationship of man from God because of sin.
God is eternal
Man is
