2 Corinthians 5:17 NASB95
Therefore if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creature; the old things passed away; behold, new things have come.
Ephesians 4:23–24 NKJV
and be renewed in the spirit of your mind, and that you put on the new man which was created according to God, in true righteousness and holiness.

What is “New Creation”

It is a new creative work of God
It is a original work, of a kind not seen before
The “new creation” is different from the “angels” and the “natural man”
The new creation is the “new man”.
spirit beings
human beings
“new creation” or the “new man”

What is a “New Man”

New Man comes from the Greek “kaine anthropos”
- the context speaks of a “new humanity”, a new “human race” - not Jew, not Gentile
not Jew, not Gentile
the “new man” is not identified with any earthly human race because it is a “new creation”
The “new man” is different from all other creations.
Note: God’s 3 primary creations:
Spirit being - angels, seraphs, cherubs
created a spirit creature
has its own spirit
Human being - natural man
created a flesh (natural man)
has its own spirit
New human race - the new creation
created both flesh and spirit
has the Spirit of God

How the New Man is “Created”

Jesus Christ is the

Jesus Christ was the FIRST of the New Creation, the New Man

1 Corinthians 15:45 NASB95
So also it is written, “The first man, Adam, became a living soul.” The last Adam became a life-giving spirit.
“living soul” - made with a self-consciousness
“life-giving Spirit” - being the source of eternal life
1 Corinthians 15:46–49 NASB95
However, the spiritual is not first, but the natural; then the spiritual. The first man is from the earth, earthy; the second man is from heaven. As is the earthy, so also are those who are earthy; and as is the heavenly, so also are those who are heavenly. Just as we have borne the image of the earthy, we will also bear the image of the heavenly.
the “first Adam” prefigures all humans born after him - earthy
the “second Adam” prefigures all humans born after Him - heavenly
Jesus Christ was the first man to be indwelt and filled with the Spirit of God.
because he was

Jesus was begotten of the Father - NOT created

Hebrews 1:5–6 NASB95
For to which of the angels did He ever say, You are My Son, Today I have begotten You”? And again, “I will be a Father to Him And He shall be a Son to Me”? And when He again brings the firstborn into the world, He says, And let all the angels of God worship Him.”
begotten Son - this took place in the beginning
Hebrews 1.5-
firstborn brought into the world - this took place in Bethlehem
NOTE: 3 types of “sons of God”
Created by God - angels and all spirit beings
Job 38:4 NASB95
“Where were you when I laid the foundation of the earth? Tell Me, if you have understanding,
Job 38.4
Job 38:7 NASB95
When the morning stars sang together And all the sons of God shouted for joy?
Created “in the image of God” - the first man Adam, and all the human race after him
Genesis 1.2
Genesis 1:27 NASB95
God created man in His own image, in the image of God He created him; male and female He created them.
Begotten of God! - Jesus Christ
John 1:14 NASB95
And the Word became flesh, and dwelt among us, and we saw His glory, glory as of the only begotten from the Father, full of grace and truth.
the Word did not create a flesh, but BECAME FLESH
1 John 4.9
the Word was the BEGOTTEN from the Father
1 John 4:9 NASB95
By this the love of God was manifested in us, that God has sent His only begotten Son into the world so that we might live through Him.
He was already begotten before He was sent into the world
“only begotten” - from MONOGENES, unique, radically distinctive and without equal
By creation (Heb. BARA) the “son” is created “ex nihilo” (out of nothing).
Be BIRTH, the son is part of the person that gives birth to him!
THAT IS WHY - YOU MUST BE BORN AGAIN!
John 3:5–6 NASB95
Jesus answered, “Truly, truly, I say to you, unless one is born of water and the Spirit he cannot enter into the kingdom of God. “That which is born of the flesh is flesh, and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit.
1 Peter 1:23 NASB95
for you have been born again not of seed which is perishable but imperishable, that is, through the living and enduring word of God.
John 3.3-
John 3:3–6 NASB95
Jesus answered and said to him, “Truly, truly, I say to you, unless one is born again he cannot see the kingdom of God.” Nicodemus said to Him, “How can a man be born when he is old? He cannot enter a second time into his mother’s womb and be born, can he?” Jesus answered, “Truly, truly, I say to you, unless one is born of water and the Spirit he cannot enter into the kingdom of God. “That which is born of the flesh is flesh, and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit.
the Word is the Seed, the MONOGENES of God!
THE NEW MAN IS BEGOTTEN OF GOD, THROUGH HIS SEED-WORD!

Jesus was in-dwelt and filled by the Spirit of God

John 10:37–38 NASB95
“If I do not do the works of My Father, do not believe Me; but if I do them, though you do not believe Me, believe the works, so that you may know and understand that the Father is in Me, and I in the Father.”
Jesus promised the Spirit of God will come and “dwell” in the believer.
Romans 8:9 NASB95
However, you are not in the flesh but in the Spirit, if indeed the Spirit of God dwells in you. But if anyone does not have the Spirit of Christ, he does not belong to Him.
Romans 8.9
the Holy Spirit identifies you as belonging to God.
we belong to God first by creation, but now more importantly “by birth”!
By having the Holy Spirit in us, we “PUT ON” the New Man.
Ephesians 4:24 NASB95
and put on the new self, which in the likeness of God has been created in righteousness and holiness of the truth.
THE NEW MAN IS A PERSON WHO HAS THE SPIRIT OF GOD ABIDING IN HIM.
OUTWARDLY, HE IS A NATURAL MAN
INWARDLY, HE IS “NEW MAN”, THE HOLY SPIRIT CONFIRMING THAT HE HAS BEEN BORN OF THE WORD OF GOD!
