Mark 2:13–17 ESV
13 He went out again beside the sea, and all the crowd was coming to him, and he was teaching them. 14 And as he passed by, he saw Levi the son of Alphaeus sitting at the tax booth, and he said to him, “Follow me.” And he rose and followed him. 15 And as he reclined at table in his house, many tax collectors and sinners were reclining with Jesus and his disciples, for there were many who followed him. 16 And the scribes of the Pharisees, when they saw that he was eating with sinners and tax collectors, said to his disciples, “Why does he eat with tax collectors and sinners?” 17 And when Jesus heard it, he said to them, “Those who are well have no need of a physician, but those who are sick. I came not to call the righteous, but sinners.”

Because His mission was so crucial He realized that to have deep impact required doing specific things in specific places to accomplish specific ends. His labor was not always appreciated nor was it understood. Sometimes it was resented and eventually it was resisted and rejected. Yet His interaction with the lost and the least, the forgotten fallen altered the course of history.

• Having a deep impact on your family, friends, community, workplace, or school is not really about talent it's about presence. Persistent presence. Not rudely or intrusively but engagingly.

about presence. Persistent presence. Not rudely or intrusively but engagingly.

• Jesus had deep impact because it was His mission. His Passion. His purpose. He had deep impact because He cared. He cared enough to sign up for the hard thing.

He cared.

• Do you care about the lost enough to make your life a lesson in practical, Godly living? Do you care about the lost enough to invite them to worship, study, pray with you… or even to just be your friend? Do you care enough about the lost to be present with them gaining influence? Are you willing to live on purpose, intentionally choosing your target?
