SCAN
Can anyone remember what SCAN stands for?
Sufficiency, Clarity, Authority, Necessity
And we have been going a bit out of order. We started on “Authority” and we said that we recognize God and the supreme authority and God has spoken to us through the prophets and His son and we have an inspired account of that speaking we call the Bible thus the Bible becomes our “Authority” so we said this.
“To disbelieve and to disobey scripture is to disbelieve and to disobey God”
That brought us into week #2 where we talked about the Clarity of Scripture or who remembers the fancy word we used for clarity?
Perspicuity.
The understanding of perspicuity or the clarity of scripture is that scripture has made it clear how to become saved, how live as a Christian and how to grow as a Christian! and when we read the scripture we have a helper walking with us known as the Holy Spirit and we start with the milk of scripture and slowly move to the meat.
another way of looking at this is
the plain thing is the main thing and the main thing is the plain things.
So now we will look at the Necessity of Scripture.
