Just so, I tell you, there will be more joy in heaven over one sinner who repents than over ninety-nine righteous persons who need no repentance.
Luke 15:
Jesus answered, “Those who are well have no need of a physician, but those who are sick; I have come to call not the righteous but sinners to repentance.”
Repent. We hear that word a lot, particularly in the church; but have we ever stopped to really consider what it means to repent?
The Bible tells us that repentance is a necessary thing if we are to walk out a Christian journey—if we are to be the men and women God called us to be. In fact, by its very definition the notion of repentance follows from the notion of sin. It suggests that sin is an act or attitude which can be corrected by some change in the person. To repent is literally to have a change of mind, not about your plans, intentions, or beliefs, it is literally about changing your whole personality from a sinful course of action to God
I would ask you to consider that repentance is not something you
In the Old Testament the root word in basic Hebrew used to express this change simply means to turn. We often preach, repent, turn from your wicked ways.
But, I would ask you to consider this, repentance is not just something you do in a religious context. Anyone ever been wronged? And you were right for feeling that way. You weren’t just being emotional, you weren’t just being mellow dramatic, you were actually wronged by another person; whether you were unjustly accused or unfairly denied or intentionally left out or deliberately passed over or purposely looked through; you were treated with disdain, disregard or disrespect.
