The Lord has a word for us regarding The Overflow. I believe God is saying that the name Overflow speaks to what Sunday nights are. They will be an Overflow of what is already going on on Weekend morning services. I’ve heard it said we’re the Holy Spirit service which is great but even are AM services are going to start to look different because when the spirit shows up there’s only so much we’re willing to do to contain. (Ps 65) Though Overflow didn’t look exactly how I picture God has been setting up the entire time.

Do we receive the Word of the Lord tonight?

I read this scripture as one of the “Scripture of the day” 2-3 weeks ago and it really just stuck with me. I don’t know about you but I’ve heard and read this verse tons of times but this time was different. i just read it over and over and the Holy Spirit began to speak to me.

Matthew 4:4 NASB95

But He answered and said, “It is written, ‘Man shall not live on bread alone, but on every word that proceeds out of the mouth of God.’ ”

You can never TRULY live off of just what the basic necessities of life. Food and water keep you alive but they don’t mean you’ll LIVE in it’s truest sense!

Jesus is quoting scripture here…

What is bread? Literal?

Proceed?

God is speaking to the Children of Isreal (through Moses) right as they prepare to inherit the promised land, and he reminds them...

Deuteronomy 8:3 NASB95

“He humbled you and let you be hungry, and fed you with manna which you did not know, nor did your fathers know, that He might make you understand that man does not live by bread alone, but man lives by everything that proceeds out of the mouth of the Lord.

Manna was thought o be something from trees that exuded from insects

What was Jesus saying by quoting this scripture? Meaning, yes my body hungers and desires food, but louder than the hunger pains is the yearning for fellowship with the Father. need to hear the word of the Lord because what good is living if i’m not getting direction from the Lord on how to live.

My life is not dependent on whether my fleshly yearning and desires are met...

Unlike a meal, you hunger again. IA word from the Lord changes everything ex. teach a man to fish vs. give

Become familiar with it.

ex. Imagine you purchased a weapon for your home as a mean for protection. You’ve never shot it, never maintained it, never really taken it out of packaging. It’s there for a piece of mind. What good of use to you will it be when someone breaks into your home a threatens your safety. Such can we be with our bibles. We own them, and bring them to church. Never taking the time to familiarize ourselves

2. Listen for direction.
